actually it's +3 CHR.. that's why i said "reasonable" substitute. Again, Mary's Horn typically goes for an outrageous sum. It's not song-specific of course, but it definitely helps in landing the non-March songs at that level.

Offensive songs are like offensive spells. They can be resisted, either fully or partially. If you get a partial resist on the spell Sleep, it doesn't last as long. If you get a partial resist on Lullaby, it doesn't last as long.
Mary's Horn doesn't directly increase the duration of Lullaby, it lowers the chance of a resist. (Actually, I'm not sure, it could be that the +2 Lullaby increases the duration of an unresisted Lullaby in the same way the +X instruments increase the duration of buffs.)

Actually, Mary's Horn DOES increase the duration of Lullaby, as far as I can tell. I'll have to test it to be sure (I have both that and a +2 Lullaby harp to test with), but I seem to recall it adding +10 seconds to duration per +1, the same way buff songs and Virelai gain duration from their respective instruments.
Stray Mary is a stingy whore, but not too hard to camp if you have a friend along. She has two possible spawn points. The area surrounding the intersection of F-5 and G-6, and the area surrounding the intersection of F-8 and G-9 in Konschtat. There are four sheep at each spot that stay closer to those intersections than any of the other sheep. If a fifth sheep pops in either area, that's the placeholder; kill it and a few minutes later you'll have a Stray Mary.
I got the horn on my second kill, but haven't gotten another (after sending the first to a mule) in about a dozen other kills. It probably would have been a lot easier if I'd had a partner, but I didn't want to bother anybody so just ran back and forth between the spots myself. I don't think many people actually intentionally camp Mary, but lots of people kill the sheep and hunt rams (one Ram spawn point is close to the north Mary spawn point), so you get a lot of people who just happen across her while you're in the other spot if you don't have help.
