  • Number of Songs

    Hi all, no im not a bard yet(YET mind u i am goin for that quest first as soon as i get high enough) but i do have a question concerning the number of songs a bard can stick in total.
    With an instrument a bard can stick 2 songs on their pt right?

    Ok w/o an instrument what is the max # of songs possible. Can u still stick multiple songs on mobs?

    Im soo confused:confused:
    Whats the max# of songs u can stick on ne thing with and with out an instrument and what r their types just checkin.

    with instrument each bard can put 2 songs on the pt, w/o its 1, multiple bards in a single party can't stick the same song though, and extreme example 2 bards, one does minuet I and II, the other does III and IV, that is possible, but they both can't do III and IV. and on mobs, that i don't know w/o an instrument. only reason u'd ever not have a na instrument would be with bard sub, which i've only seen used by drg (what good subs do they ahve anyways?) and some whm/rdm/smn. smn can give himself an extra mp/tick, rdm can produce a total of 4mp/tick, and whm/brd is really self-serving imo. ^^ brd rocks main, cause the instruments can amplify the songs so much, i carry like 15+ instruments with me at all times ^^

    Pingpong used his Masamune, but Keyura dodged! Pingpong's anger grows by 13.

      { Inventory Space} { Can I have it?}

      I've never seen that you can only stick ONE song without an instrument - singing normally (which I do from time to time when the Wind Insturment song is so stuck in my head I'm whistling it when I'm walking around during the day) still allows you to stack 2 songs on a Bard Main, from what I've noticed. I could have been REALLY dense and missed that you can only have 1 song without the insturment, but I don't believe so.

      The limit to one song comes from having the Bard subbed, not from not using an insturment. Much like how Sneak Attack, Trick Attack, Meditate, and other such useful abilities are nerfed to some extent if you use them subbed.

      Of course, you should never be without your insturments (and preferably your +1 HQ insturments) if at all possible. I've only found playing without an insturment useful in one situation - and that was when the mages and melees were so packed together in one area that I was reduced to just singing Ballad I and II insturmentless in order to ensure that I was only getting the mages. Singing skill has a MUCH shorter range than Wind Insturments, who in turn have a shorter range than String Insturments. But those situations are the situational exception, not the rule...

      ...kinda like a number of our songs. :sweat:

        Umm...you can only stick one song with singing alone. You need to be playing an instrument to stick two.

            You can stick one of each kind of song on a monster. So one threnody, one requiem, and one elegy. More potent spells and songs will overwrite weaker ones.

              yes yes and yes to the above statements. Just to clarify things a little, and it might be already inferred, but... The rule is a brd can put 2 songs on each member of the party, so party members can have 2 songs on them at any given time. As a brd, you will have to set up an order for songs so the party benefits the most, and your next song cast doesn't cancel out a previous one that they would want. Simple example is if and when you party with a ranger. My song order is as follows:

              Blade madrigal >> Valor Minuet III >> Hunters Prelude (single target song onto ranger). That then makes all the other melees have normal ACC bonus and att bonus, and the ranger now has att bonus and ranged ACC bonus. Same thing will be in place if you are asked by a melee for certain Etudes, you'll need to schedule when you will cast that etude (another single target song) so they can have either madrigal or minuet and that etude on them.

              Experienced BLM's will let you know which Threnody they want as well, for a certain skillchain (depending on the spell they'll be casting). Thats about it ... hope that helps from a pretty new bard, still getting used to stuff.
