The problem for the mages is not keeping the melees alive, it's keeping the BRD alive. Tank or no tank, melees take damage quite slowly (Flood notwithstanding). BRD will take 300-400 damage every 30 seconds when the mandies wake up (more, if they're slow to resleep).

That is what is so extremely draining for the mages. Even if the BRD heals 90 HP of it with a Cure II (which they should), both BRD and mages are eventually gonna run out of MP, even with Ballad going, even with higher max starting MP from Astrals.

Like I said, it's doable, but the point is to have the rest of the party able to kill mandies fast enough so that the BRD and single mage don't run out of MP by late fight. (Healing the BRD becomes easier and easier the fewer mandies are pounding on him. Hence it becomes easier the later in the fight you are. When there's only 1-2 mandies left I can even take care of myself.) Ideally you want 4 RNG/NIN (no need for Stun, just have them save Utsusemi for when they see Flood casting) for this purpose.

THF and NIN, as I mentioned before, will lag a bit behind in the damage output. And NIN will not have an easy time holding hate ... nor will it honestly matter if they do since (as I said before) the damage the melees take is not the issue in the first place.

You will probably want to have both the BRD and the mage take Yagudo Drinks, and the mage at least should probably bring Hi-Ethers. This will cut into your BCNM profits, but losing the battle cuts into them a lot more. If you don't want to spend money on items, I highly suggest changing your group (which may involve inviting someone from outside your LS, true).

Especially if you're inexperienced you really shouldn't be taking the riskier method of "one mage and kill fast". Try that when you've all got some practice under your belts.

Just as an update. We did this BCNM easily.

The time for it was 19 mins and 19 seconds.

The most damage that i ever too was about 100 HP to 200 HP and sometimes I didn't even take any damage at all because my timing on sleep was really good, must thanks to the practice in West Sara.

With our PT setup no potions were needed and also there was 0 damage taken by the meeles. As the WAR/NIN and NIN/WAR were trading off most of the damage. I was also able to cast Madrigal upon my meeles and keep mage with balland and myself with Knight's Minne.

By the end of the fight I had only 260% TP charged from getting hit.

I will write a guide for this later as I've seen many topics ask for it so hopefully you guys will approve of it.

      Thanks for all the advice.

Just as an update. We finally got the time down from 19 mins to 15 mins with the same PT setup. I am really surprised at how much of a cut in time (4 mins) Madrigal and Minuet did. I did my best to keep the meeles with it and still give Ballad to the mages. Basically, the advantage is you can cut the time to 15 mins, but the disadvantage was that I took more hits. I'm going to experiement some more.
