I went in the G-6 entrance in East Altepa, and after going through a couple of the weight doors, found a spot where 3 of the sabotenders and a couple spiders spawned. I think it was G-7 in Quicksands.

Had a pty of 6, and killed them for about an hour+ and never saw a drop. The spawn rate was pretty slow on these guys.

Is there a better spot in Quicksands where more spawn?

Group of people from my LS (myself included) went there the other day - 5 people plus a sacrificial Carbuncle (the second PLD was subbing SMN for that purpose, since he wasn't tanking).

We took the (D-12) entrance way off in the southwest, off the map. Passed through the weight sensors, dropped down a giant pit, and camped near the zone line to the Chamber of Oracles (which, I must add, is remarkably easy to reach).

There were at least a half a dozen Spelunking Sabotenders in the vicinity. We camped them for 30-45 minutes and got 3 drops (the other 2 people weren't interested, just coming along to be nice and get some skillups).

So try there. Incidentally, those things have such ridiculously high evasion that madrigal didn't seem to make much of a difference (for either the 70's who could hit it or the 50's who couldn't). So I just used stacked ballads for MP fuel for the multiple Curagas needed.

If I remember correctly when I got this was after the zilart mission there.

Someone ran outside and aggroed the thing, we killed it. They let me have hte dorp because I had been bugging them to take me there. (This was with my LS)

      1 cacutar.. 1 drop. :spin:

We killed the rest of them around to see if we could get another for a few others but no drop.

It's been quite a while since I got my Star Necklace. All I remember is that you have to go through a few weight doors and then jump into a sand whirlpool, which will drop you into a room full of Spelunking Sabotenders. We got the two drops that we needed in about 30 minutes.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I haven't read any of the previous messages, so maybe someone's already pointed out the exact location of the room already.

edited to add: I just remembered...the room is along the exact same path that you take to do one of the Zilart missions (the Antican BCNM).

Just to clear this up for those who may not know where the Cloister of Oracles is. Once you enter the 'secret' entrance of D-12 in the southwest portion of western altepa, you then head down and around the corner.
Upon here you will need sneak for Anticans, scorpions, and cactaurs. Head strait ahead and you will find one weighted switch needed to open the door (equal to one galka's weight needed to open.) From there you head into a large square like room. (Note: In here there is a small chance that a NM may be here, name is like Tapriaipairaipra XX-VIII, basically if you see an antican with roman numerals, watch out, i think he can see through sneak.) Ok, once in this square like room, remain sneaked and head left for another weighted switch, once that door opens you'll be braught to a small cooridor with a lizzard in it (good place to rest if need be). Open the oposite door [non-weighted] and you'll see a room with a hole in it, drop down and you'll be in the cactaur pop area. Last suggestion is to find both zones incase you need to zone, but really everything down there is fairly easy.
