Sorry couldn`t find another threath so why not start a new one

I am mithra and want to start bard now...... My question is if mithra bards are hated (like a Galka WHM or Taru warrior ect.)
Can I be a decent bard as a mithra?

  • #2
At level 75, there is a 8 CHR difference between a Mithra/Galka and the other races. CHR is one of the easiest stats to boost. So in short, BRDs are loved no matter what race.

Look at it this way: 80% of the songs you'll be singing don't even rely on CHR to be 'strong'.

The other 20% are the offensive songs, which most parties don't even notice whether you use or not. This is the truth too; I've deliberately used the songs half the time and then not used them on other occasions - not a peep from my members.

However, the MINIMAL CHR difference won't even affect the chance of your offensive songs landing, so it's a mute point nonehtless

As a just shy of 50 level Mithra bard....you'll be fine. Trust me.

does CHR affect the "dispel" song? (Finale i think)

I mean, if you have a lower CHR will it actually get resisted?

              56 Bard here, Elvaan.

The only 3 good beneficial songs are Accuracy up, Range Accuracy up, Mana Regen. The 3 good Offensive Songs are Sleep, Slow and Dispel.

Slow and Dispel, I rarely get resisted and I wear no charisma. Sleep is another story, I have macro'd a full set of charisma gear in those rare moments I need to play crowd control against certain resistant models.

As a Mithra you would do just as well as me, because having a set of charisma gear and having a set of ultimate charisma gear, I've found no difference.

              Have fun

Yes, Finale can be resisted on higher-leveled monsters. I've never had it resisted on an XP monster, but I have seen someone subbing RDM have their Dispel resisted on a skeleton in King Ranperre's.

On the main topic, it's true that your beneficial songs will be no different than any other race's. I'm a firm believer of CHR though, and I think 8 is a rather large difference. If you load yourself up with CHR gear, you'll be fine for regular XP PTs. You might find trouble landing offensive songs on higher-level monsters that take alliances to kill, however.

All around, play what you would like. Galka bards have the best voice, though.

Finale is Dark based as well if I recall correctly, and even against monsters who are strong against Dark it is still extremely difficult to resist.

It scares me that you are level 56 and don't think Minuet is useful...

                          Sorry to scare you Xccoortri.

I've been playing 5 beneficial songs to a constant group consisting of 4 melees and one healer since level 10.

Around 51 and one ulcer later, I've finally seen the light and realized there is more than one way to play a bard.

And man, am I ever loving my Bard now.

Even March can be useful if you Soul Voice first :spin: ..

Well its useful because March + Madrigal amuses me so. I was playing around once and did SV + March + March + Haste (thanks to rdm and whm). Very amusing.

Makes me feel like a puppetmaster. :spin:
