  • Chocobo Hum?

I've just seen this on mystery tour, its a lvl 52 song. I've not seen this in any AH, or can't find much information on it.

Has anyone got this song? Its got a purple background for some reason.

From perusing various Japanese databases, I've found a grand total of four songs that have levels assigned to them (at or below 75) which are not, as far as I know, in the game yet.

52: Chocobo Hum (useless status resistance)
58: Cactuar Fugue (different useless status resistance)
      65: Army's Paeon V (duh)
      75: Army's Paeon VI (ditto)

Of course, if the range on those higher paeons suffers even more badly than the range on paeon IV, which I just got, I'm not sure I'd want to use them anyway.

(Tangential question: Does Paeon IV's range improve? Even with a string I can only hit the mage group or the melee group, unless they're extremely close together. Which is bad for other reasons - my songs aside, it's less time between when mages get aggro and when they get hit. Granted, the mages usually don't need it, but extra range is still helpful for nabbing the puller as they're darting off.)

There are also songs aplenty with either high levels assigned to them, or no level assigned at all - none of the lot are obviously in the game yet.

I actually never noticed any changes in my paeon range except when I switch instruments from wind to string (obvious why the range changes). But ever since I got paeon 4, I've never really used paeon at all and if this trend continues, I doubt I'll use paeon 5 or 6.

yeah, there have been many times where the melee tell me not to cast paeon on them because it erases the madrigals that they already have. we usually pull so fast that casting paeon doesn't even give a substantial amouint of HP back. this makes it a lot easier for me too; i don't have to worry about singing madrigals at the start of the next fight.

If so, where is it obtained? We know a lot of info on songs by looking at game data, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the song is actually somewhere we can get it. Take Thunder Spirit for example - that has been in the game data for months but only in the latest patch was actually available to get.

I don't think it is in the game, I tried to use the translator on it, but I didn't see it there...maybe I missed it.

I think it is in the translator, someone /tell me about it (in translator format), which made me wonder how to get it

[Chocobo] and [Hum] are both in the translator anyway ([Fugue] is not, btw). Now if someone said [Chocobo Hum] to you all in one translator bubble, it means the song scroll actually exists.

Because you can only translate item names if you have seen them (check, bazaar, NPC store, AH, treasure pool, your own inventory, mog safe, storage), or if you have seen someone else translate them (meaning either they've seen someone else and so on, or they've seen the item themself). The game will store the last 200 item names "seen".

So, if someone said [Chocobo] [Hum] to you, it doesn't mean much. I could do that. But if someone said [Chocobo Hum] to you, it's more significant, and means the item to learn the song actually exists.

Yes, but surely its just the [Hum] that matters, just like there is only [Minuet] , [Madrigal] and not [Blade Madrigal] and [Valour Minuet]

Well, the existence of [Hum] does have some indication that it mattered enough to be thrown into the auto-translator. I'll grant that.

However, that doesn't necessarily prove that anyone's actually gotten the song scroll for it. The only proof of that would be to see someone singing it, or to see the song scroll itself [Chocobo Hum] translated.
