Thanks for the info, but I'm still wondering...is BRD AF really worth it?

Yea it is. Theres very few items that can boost songs effectiveness, so it makes BRD AF one of the best equipment for BRD, mostly the Pants and the Gloves.

Are the two castle coffers a pain to get?

Took me a week to get high level JPN or NA help. Try joining a high level LS with members who are similair to your level, I have been sort of looking but a lot of people in my current LS are RL friends.

Yep, there is 1 person in my LS that has offered to help, and he's hoping to get some high lvlled ppl to come aswell later today.

I just hope its not a tough fight...

All i have to do, is sneak pull the NM right?

For bard AF2. I did it last night no problem with a 70 RDM, 70 BRD, 56 SAM, 61 BLM, and me, the 50 BRD...It was pretty easy, and I'm sure you could do it with lots less. Just make sure you only pull the main guy, then you don't have to fight the oter 2.

It's too bad that the AF2 isn't really that good...

Well what a nightmare this was. Finally did it, with lo lvl 60s and me (54).

BRD, PLD, RDM, BLM, WHM and DRG

First fight, we just kill the Yum named one, the others despawned, and i didnt get cutscene when i checked the sarcophogus. So i warped back to jueno, got some more Holy Water, killed myself in batallia and got tractored back up.

This time i spawned the NMs and they appeared like 1 minute after i'd traded the Holy Water, so my sneak had wore and i got killed instantly. Thankfully the rest of the pt just about won.

I apologize for potentially asking an asked question but here goes.

For the wait on the ring you bury for AF3, is 24 realtime hours that you wait or just 24 in game hours?

I"m guessing the former, because I'm positive I"ve been waiting for more than 24 game hours.

For AF3, just wait till after midnight (japanese time!) and you can dig up the ring.

I completed the last of the AF quests last week. The hardest by far imo is getting the coffer key from Oztroja.

Oztroja Coffer: Xp pt started lvling at 56 over here as we needed 3 keys total. We had to spend over 3 sessions here (10+ hrs) to get 2 keys, as the last key was picked up in a skill up pt. Xp was pretty good as yagudos seem to be very easy to kill. I also got a lot of songs dropped by the conductors, saving me a few gil. When I was looking for the coffer there was no one else around so I got it within 1hr. One of my other pt members got help from a JP thf camping oztroja in finding the coffer... i guess it doesn't hurt to ask the thfs around for help^^

Zvahl: The coffer mobs conned tough to lvl 63, but the key seemed to drop really fast. Did blm AF2 at the same time and got everything finished within 1hr. As long as u have the map for here (rulude gardens quest.. trade flame degen for map) the coffers are really easy to find.

AF3: When I went to camp the spot out, the orcish warlord was by the altar. So I returned later with my xp pt(lvl 58) and a random pt of 60-65s. But when we got there there was no warlord in the room so i spawned the bugaboo. It got our 65 pld down to half life at one time but seemed to die rather quickly.

AF2: As long as u have sneak on before u spawn the 3 nms it should be no problem. The only time where ppl have actually died is when the bard spawns the nms with no sneak. We killed the dog one first then Yum and I got the cut scene.

From various sites it says you need an alliance of 12 to kill the Nm for AF1-3 I wonder where I am gong to find that sort of help, Findind one person to help AF was a pain, much less 12.

Thought I would post some of my own Bard AF experience since there seems to be a lot of people asking about it (how hard are the NMs, coffers, etc).

AF1- Easy enough, I soloed it as lvl 70 WHM with no problem. Also, for future reference, you can use a different job to do any of the AF quests once you have accepted them, EXCEPT for opening your two coffers that actually have AF pieces in them. You can use a different job to open your gloves coffer, the key item one.

AF2- Setup was me as lvl 70 WHM, and my friend 74 RNG. Even though RNG is -30% on bones we knew this would be a joke and it was. Also, most people say after killing the main NM the other two depopped, but when we did it, we killed the main NM, then killed one of the side ones and the last one depoped. Only had to do it once, touched the Sarcophogus and got the cutscene.

AF3- Haven't done it yet but planning on trying to trio it with a 75 WAR/NIN, 74 RNG/NIN, and me as 70 WHM/BLM. I've done it before so I thought this might be fun. I'll let you know how it goes.

                              Coffers-

Oztroja- This coffer is usually camped as shit because of Astral Rings, so I decided to go at 2:30AM JST. Got there, coffer was sitting in the middle of the water, opened it and dezoned. Got the key on a skillup months ago.

Crawlers- Opened many coffers here, know the area very well. Finally got a key in my PT this morning so after the PT ended, I went and opened it, got my hat. Easiest of the coffers, I'd say.

Zvahl- This one I was dreading the most. I joined a skill/key party that lasted 3 1/2 hours, 5 people needed keys and 2 dropped, both of which I lotted very poorly on. The next morning, I saw a shout for Zvahl flare hunt, so I joined that. It was a 5-man hunt, so I was hoping I could snag a key here since they were all high-level and I figured they probably wouldn't need AF keys. Well, I was wrong, as I asked and 2 others said they needed keys. We were there for 3 hours, finally one dropped and I won the lot with a 600. The coffer is very easy, 8 locations, 4 of which can be seen from one spot and all of which can be accessed inside 10 or 15 minutes.

                                Hmm, let's see.....

AF1, I did it at lv 50, with the same party for Papyrus hunt in El Dieme(Beaucedine entrance), so we just walked by it and killed it very easy.

AF2, tried it first time, but it was late night and sleepy....so we died because forgot we had to sneak + cure pull, hehe. =)

I tried it again later, and we were prepared, did everythign right. It wasn't exactly a cakewalk, everyone got down to about 30% HP because of that nasty AoE. ; ; We killed Yum Kimil NM, and the other two despawned, got me Star Ring.

AF3, piece of cake...we had 15 or 18 people, a full alliance, pretty much. He has some nasty spells, but with an alliance like that, easily countered. He went down, and tada..... =D

Coffers were a piece of cake. Got my Crawler's Nest coffer same time as exp against Helm Beetles(coffer spawns there, even!).

Oztroja coffer, well, took awhile to get key to drop(about 2-3 hours, not easy. ), and 5 minutes after, coffer spawns right behind us! Thiefs? No worries, there weren't very many on at the time(I think we were only people in whole zone, actually). Glory for Kujata. =) Not a hugely-populated server so there's not so many people camping stuff as I've heard in stories from other servers......

I've seen Oztroja coffer about 3-5 times throughout my experience...too bad I can't open em without a key. =(

Zvahl Baileys? Cake walk. Key dropped twice after about 1-2 hours, and coffer is a piece of cake(coffer didn't take us any longer than 15 minutes).

Bard AF isn't too terrible, but if you are unprepared, it can be a nuisance. Don't rush it, though. I wouldn't worry about AF until lv 60, when you have more capable PT's and alliances.
