Job Interesting or Just Plain Dull?

I was thinking about becoming one of these but I have heard from a few people they become boring fast. And do not factor in that they are group dependent because I won't solo anyway

Well, I picked Bard cause I loved them in FFT and they're not a popular job. Everyone always loves +30 attack and accuracy up right?

Plus I do draw my sword but not until when the monster has like 1/4health left, cause the songs sometimes take a long time.

Threnody is always cool, letting the blm do an extra +20dmg.

And elegy + slow shows a pretty noticeable difference in an enemy's attack speed.

Err yeah. It's a good job.

I was wondering...

I do not know past lvl 10 exp :sweat: and I wanted to know if bards are saught after by groups? Not necessatilly(sp?) as much a WHM, but I want to be something that groups will welcome. I dont want to be a group dependent job and not be a valuable party member.

to say bards are sought after by groups is something of an understatement at later levels. you'll find brd and rdm are the most sought after classes, at least thats the case on bismarck.

going unanon in jeuno in primetime can be quite scarey :sweat:

The best thing about Bard is that whenever you join a group or a party, it will become really powerfull and Bard is just so usefull that the simple aspect of making everything around stronger and better makes it worth playing. No job in the game has this effect.

Personally I love playing a bard. But admittedly, after 80+ levels of support (Between Rdm, Whm, and Bard) I took about a 30 level break and leveled paladin for a while. But now that I've got that out of my system, (and after my LS begged me to level up my Brd for the BCNM 40s) I went back to Bard and I'm enjoying it again.

Really depends on your playing style. If you want to kill stuff, its boring. If you like doing support, it's awesome. And after level 25, you're considered a Godsend for parties. Not an insta invite, but then again, nothing really is all the time (I actually get half my parites from people begging me while I'm unanon in Jeuno. Something I'm sure other Bards can attest to). But it's about as close as you get to one sometimes.

BRD is far from boring I have found, there is usually so much to do....

You have to keep an eye on all your songs.
You have to guage when to start singing or when to cast heals/spells (as soon as you start that song you are not moving!).
Watch out for links so you can sleep.
Cast offensive songs/spells on mob.
Attack mob.

I rarely get to type as a BRD that is how busy it is......

Is it boring? I would say no..... can it get repetitive I would say yes, and that is why I usually take a break from playing any one job for a long period of time, cos they can all get repetitive.

Bard is definately fun, but you do sometimes fall asleep when your group has a really good puller, and it's way past your usual bedtime. It's more fun when you get lots of adds, cause your sleep rarely gets resisted, even by the undead.

If you like WHM, then youll love BRD.....
Otherwise, BRD to me is boring.
My BRD is 52 now and i hate to play it, but continue to only because my other main is a THF and THFs never get into PTs. BRD on the other hand gets into PTs easy.
BRD is too much work to be fun and you cant melee for shit at higher levels.
And anyone saying otherwise obviously has thier filters turned on where they cant see other peoples damage.
I hit on average for about 3-15 with my dagger skill maxed on my BRD. Which is far less dmg than most people my level. Basically useless.
BRD is exciting to some, but repetitvely boring...

You can say the same thing about every job its all about you. I love support jobs so I love being BRD/WHM, and why do we need to solo, I can get help from high levels by simply asking, people love bards and are willing to help them out cause they know we can return the favor in the form of a BCNM!

I find bard more active than other jobs, repeative as hell but u can say that about all jobs, i would just die if I i did was click attack and come back in 3 mins when the mobs dead ^^

But to summarize you get into parties fast, u have BCNM (nice gile maker from what I hear), and you keep yourself active during a fight. So just do what you want to do, there are so many jobs no reason to get bored.

Bard fun

i subbed rdm for bard, and for the earlier levels, i was debuffing, singing songs, healing, and always standing with the melees. i had so many tasks, most of which were what i wanted to do. 2 songs = 16 seconds of the battle =P
4 songs = 32 seconds, no biggie

You will be one of the busiest jobs in the game, and one of the most sought after jobs in the game...Bards are notorious for being able to find parties really fast, and level up really fast, because face it, any party that has a bard is going to kill faster, have less downtime, and get more exp then a party without a bard.

Post level 55 you're going to start doing almost nothing but singing though....

Madrigal, minuet, ballad 1, ballad 2, prelude, requiem, finale, threondy, carol. You'll have to sing all of thsoe songs almost every battle, and it becomes harder and harder to get a chance to swing your weapon.

Then again, compare that to a warrior, who can just click attack and walk away from the computer while his guy does all the work...depends what you like.

Eh.. I don't know how or why Carol factors into that, as it's just like any other AE buff and will over-write the ballad/madrigals. Carols are like Bar-element spells but in song form, so they stack with bars.

Anyway, ALL jobs are a process of repeating the same thing over and over. Whether it be tanking, using WS's, healing, bard, w/e. It all comes down to what you are most comfortable with doing over and over. For me, buffing is fine.. I like being needed in a pt. I like forming pts because they see bard leading and are more apt to want to join. I lack that kick-ass trait, but oh well. Mazurka > all.
