Can bards melee at all?

No, BRD is purely a support class.

Yea BRD can melee up to level level 55, past that youre just too busy to fight and your attack power is too low against IT monster to be significant. As a matter of fact, Bard should fight until they reach level 55. Because we don't have enough impact on the mage's with Ballad I, we have to find a way to make up for that and fighting is a great way since we still have Madrigal or Minuet on us after casting Ballad on our mage.

But Bard should never sub anything else than WHM in level'ing party. We don't fight enough to take the use of a melee job as a sub and WHM magic and skills are a great asset to Bards.

At lvl 10 Bard with maxed sword skills I'm hitting for around 0-5 points of damage... And it can only get worse...

Not really, I usually hit for 15ish now at 52 and my sword skill isn't maxed.

When i hit i hit for like 20 with my AF dagger at 125 skill but i hit like once a bluemoon, i end up with 15TP end of most battles.

Bards can't really melee, but you should still try and keep at least on WS maxed if you can. If you don't, you have the fun experience of building up WSs later on. *grumbles*

If you're having problems with accuracy, get a life belt. It helps a lot. If you're just using a corsette, you don't need it on the entire fight anyway. If you're using an X stone (level 50 belts), then its a problem though.

I agree with Rekiem, but i quit melee at 50.....the dmg just sucks and PT members ask you to hang out with mages and assist in healing. I like meleeing pre-50, because every little bit of DMG helps, but since i hit 50, its been pointless and i have lost the fun in being a BRD

i help my friend in sam quest and nin quest and im the tanker also Fyi my friend is a whm

you just need to keep your dagger or sword skill cpas will be good ^^

Once I am done with my songs I always try to get in the melee mix to level dagger skills. At level 45 on IT mobs I do 6-15 DMG per hit, that sounds low but keep in mind dagger delay is a lot less then swords or sythes, etc.

My dagger skill is 120 at level 45.

I exped my Bard last nite to lev 9, i hit for 20-30 on decent and even mob, mostly on 15-20 on T. But all my skill at maxed and i sub War and use food booster + att song. Using food make a very big difference when you melee, from my lef 50 Drg i can relate that +30 att make a huge difference when you hit a IT mob.
