i think chr only becomes a serious issue past 60.

thats when our low rating on singing skill (what is it a c or something?) starts to hurt, and chr helps that.

As an Elvaan BRD I don't have any problem with MP -- my RSE doesn't push any +CHR equipment out of the way, and it gives me a healthy +60 MP, with a total of about 130 at level 45.

I should also mention that I have all of the +CHR I can get my Elvaan hands on at the moment, for a total of +20. And I get resisted roughly 20% of the time still.

So just to clarify my opinion on the subject, you're a Bard, not a healer. When word gets out how terrible BRD MP is you'll start to be less and less obligated to heal, but that time has yet to come as far as I know. So what I recommend is you heal up the AoE attacks with Divine Seal+Curaga (or just Cure everyone up if you're subbing WHM) and leave the tank to be healed by the main healer.

At the pace battles go in most of my parties, I hardly have time to keep up my song routine, much less spend priceless seconds healing, and if you are healing at the expense of singing time, you're not doing your job. But there is usually a little time when a BRD isn't singing, and during those times (like said above) just hold your MP for the big AoE attacks that EVERY enemy past level 35 seems to have

Concerning the pace comment I see what you mean, on Saturday we camped outside Ifrits's Caldron and got 11000 exp in like maybe 2 hours. By the time I got off my final song the mob was dead, the pace was nuts I just used my MP just to heal up everyone after the fight.

Also no one said anything about playing WHM, your right as a bard ur first responsibility is to SING ^^

Roughly how much +CHR should I have before thinking of getting MP?

I'm wondering whether to buy Astral Rings vs. CHR rings and CHR Ribbon vs. +MP Hairpin.
