i was always intrested in playing bard characters, but i image a bard as a powerful enfeebler and caster.

you should be able to paralize your enemy completly while you are creating ah huge wind storm, with flashes and all the light effecteds neede to let the bard look very very powerful and of course with a decent amout of damage.
your enemy will be scared just because they here a little melody in the wind!!!!
bards should be mysterios, dangerous.

is it really that bad that bard just support PTs?

come on there must be a way to make a bard powerful.

is RDM really a good sub for bards? and will i be able to do decent damage as a bard as main and RDM as sub job?

A bard isn't a killing machine. Heck I'd say once you get to 70ish even a WHM can outdamage you due to your crappy WS. RDM sub with its En-series spells will let you hit a little harder but not noticeably. By the time you're able to use them at the subjob level your melee contribution will hardly make or break a PT.

Nevertheless you should try to max out dagger and sword skills.

In most games, bards are always known to play the super support role. Whether it be more melee based bards (EQ) or more caster based bards (FFXI), they are, and will always be kings of support~

whoa there buddy. i dont know what rpgs games you've been playing but in the games i play, bards are usually support. well i can only think of 2 games at the moment: never winter nights and everquest. i know there are more out there too.

Bards are not fighters in UO
Unless you got Magery, but then thats your Mage attacking, not the Bard(Which would be like Brd/Blm I guess)
All the Bards do in UO is get one monster to attack another, or get a monster to attack a player, but they have no way of attacking(except for that instrument that makes the FS)
They need Magery, or a Weapon skill to attack, or Taming to get their Dragons to attack :D

In this game, BRDs are Support Chars, you play music to enhance your PT in all sorts of ways, very useful.
