Brd/Blm

Is bard subbin blm a good combo? or a decent one?
im currently lvlin my taru blm and if whm is better sub for brd
then i'll switch to whm <_<

I did a /sea all brd to see what subs bards use. and out of the 60 bards online only 3 had Black mage as a sub, one had Warrior, two had Ninja, and 2 had Red mage. All the rest were White mage. The reason is your nukes won't be usefull when there half the level of the monster your fighting. The black mage Debuff spells would be the only use. Being a white mage sub is much more usefull to the party, emergency heals, cure poison, and raise once your high level.

Picture a WAR/BLM...

Make the WAR's MAX MP the same as the BRD (approx 100)

Now imagine your BRD/BLM Nuking



You'll nuke a total of 2-3 times before you are totally out of MP
You'll regen terribly slow
You'll NEVER be able to do any significant damage with those Nukes
You'll wish you had subbed WHM or RDM

i am playing as a BRD/BLM right now and enjoying it. Although the spells do around the same damage as your attack you would still be able to get all the cool spells that the BLM has like Drain, Aspir, Escape, Warp, Tractor, etc. Like i said most of the spells dont do that much dmg (5-30) but you never know when that little boost will come in handy.

the tractor and warp would be mighty useful and if you can get enough mp items at 60 obtain warp II, could make for a useful spell line, escape as well. ive noticed that on the pand server there are not enough blackmages to go around, so having escape is a mighty treat to offer the pt's you are in. not sure how it is on other servers, but black mages and white mages are very slim in the 40-50 range.

I've gone with this combination for one main reason. I hate leveling WHM. Period - there's nothing that can be done about it.
I even tried to go back and level my WHM, so my subjob would be capped - died and leveled down, and decided not to waste my time with a job I hated anymore.

So, now I'm playing BRD/BLM, and I'm finding that to be a whole lot more fun. Personally, I just hate having to play as back-up WHM all the time, just because I sub WHM.
I even had one group invite me just so I could play WHM! (Despite the fact that my WHM was underleveled and I only had 60MP or so ..)

The only reason I'm really going to miss out on having the WHM sub is: Raise, and the Invisi/Sneak line of spells. But oh well.
