Bards

A while back I had been trying to decide what I was going to make my job on the game, and I came with the conclusion of training as a theif until lvl 30 and then getting the Bard and Beastmaster job. I know there WAS someone up here with the bard beastmaster job combination, and I wanted to now the beneifits of this combination...The beastmaster has high charisma, so Im guessing that would help right?

About instruments and weapons. I was looking through weapon gallaries the other day and after spending time in the dagger category, I came across staffs, all of which have HP and MP bonus type things. Would this be more helpful as a tool rather than a dagger, considering as a bard, Im to concentrate on keeping the party "buffed" and whatnot instead of fighting, and staying alive.

You can tame monsters equal to or lower the beastmasters lvl. If in the brd/bst combination, how useful would a "Pet" be, so as not to have a job where abilities are wasted?

I appreciate any info anyone offers.

Brd/BST is mainly just for fun, possible for farming some stuff if you're in the right location. You have no decent way to heal yourself, so soloing is not really an option (even though sleep spells etc are nice). In a PT you would have no releaseability, so you would take a guaranteed exp loss (and you would also need to be in an area with a pet you could tame).

Early on you might want to fight more, but later on I never really fight, so something with decent +stats does seem more useful than carrying around a weapon with no stats.

This is no longer true, you can tame stuff higher than a BST's subjob level but you will have more resists than a BST. You can get moreinfo on this from the BST forum.

When you say exp loss, how much are you speaking of?

If bst is mainly for fun, then what else would be a good subjob?

30% exp loss each kill.

For PT you really need whm/rdm sub.

I can possibly seeingpaladin sub being useful way later on (after 65) in order to usethe multihit WS and being able to cure at the same time. However the multihit WS wouldnot be good against EXP mobs, because it would miss way too much.
