  • How limiting are songs

From what i've read so far, main bards can sing 2 songs, and if they have an instrument equipped they play them both at full force. Some questions:

1.) Do you just turn the songs on and they both just play and you don't have to do much else or do you have to constantly play them?

2.) While your two songs are playing can you attack? cast spells? move?

    Thanks

    From some experience...

Here is a small description how bards work currently.
If you have no instrument equiped you can only have one song effect at a time on you and your PT.

If you have an instrument you can have two song effects on you and your PT at a time.

You can no longer stack song effects as this ability was removed from the game some time ago before SMN advance job was added. (ie:: cast/play PianII twice) You can play PianII twice, but the effect of stacking will not be in play. You will just be reseting the original instance of PianII. You can however have PianI and PianII on you at the same time for more healing power.

Depending on which type of instrument you currently are using, Stringed instrument or Wind instrument, it effects how the song are cast and the range the songs effect. Unfortunately I havent seen a great difference in them, but I still have alot more learning to do~ so I dont doubt this part.

To cast a song, you sing/play the song. If you move the song will be canceled and the song effect will not be turned on. After you sing the song, the effect will last approximately 24 seconds, so you have that time to move, fight, or whatever. Most battles are over by then so you dont have to worry about recasting it till the next monster is pulled.

If you have two song effect in play when you cast/play another song effect, the new song effect will cancel the the older of the two current ones and takes its place. (ie: I cast/play PianI, then cast/play MinneI. If I then cast MenuetI, it will replace PianI, becaue that one is the older between PianI and MinneI.)
    I hope that made sense.

If you have any other questions please ask. Also forgive my bad grammar and mispellings. Im really tired~

Can you, for instance, sing two songs for the attackers then run back to the mages and sing two for them, or would that negate the two songs for the attackers? Also, will offensive songs affect the the two songs cast on the party?

Each person in the group can only have 2 songs effecting him/her at once, so if you wanted you could cast 2 different songs for every single person.

However, if for example, you cast the mp regen song on a mage, and a warrior is within the range, the warrior will also gain mp regen and cancle out one of the 2 songs that was cast on him.

So its important to make sure people know where to stand when fighting
