  • Few things. ^^

Hello. I just got Bard in the beta and was wondering how many songs I can play and keep the effects. I've played Knights Minne, Valor Minuet, and Army's Paeon and it only kept two of the effects. Will I only be able to have two song effects at a time or will it increase with level perhaps?

I also been told there were level 2 and level 4 songs, but from the lists of songs i've seen, that appears to be false.

One more thing, could anyone tell me where I can get some songs? I know I can get some at the Merry Minstrel in Jeuno, but i'm not that high level, i'm only level 5 Bard lolz. So where can I get low level songs...by means of buying other than auction house? I know there are some shops that sell maybe 1 song...that reminds me! Herb Pastoral in Windurst Woods...lolz.
(Which shops can sell me low level songs and instruments? And what equipment is best for Bard and what stat like Int or something? XD)

Sorry for that jumbled mess. Thanks.

Only two songs can remain active at any given time, no matter what. If you try singing a third song, it will overwrite the first song you played. The limit won't go any higher with level either. Keep in mind that if you don't play with an instrument you will only be able to have one song activated (which is why subbing Bard isn't the greatest idea).

Yes, there are level two songs and above as well (much like how there is CureII, CureIII, CureIV, etc. or StoneII, StoneIII, etc., the same applies with bard songs). They can only be learned at higher levels, and you'll have to do some searching for some of those songs.

A good place for low level songs is probably Bastok Market. If you check the map you will see a store that sells songs and instruments around the southeastern side. Other songs can only be obtained from quests (like Ballad, you have to form a PT of six of the same race and go to North San d'Oria and complete a quest in order to obtain it). Some monsters also drop some songs. As for the most important stats for normal play, it would be Charisma (charisma affects the strength of spells).

I didn't mean that. I meant someone said there was a song I could learn at level 2 and another I could learn at level 4. I guess you got confused too as I was. Just a level 1, 3, and 5 and not a 2 and 4. I need to get my Curaga II, I bought Reraise for 20k lolz bargain price! :dead:

I'm not much of a Bastok person, but seeing as that "traveling circus" is there because Bastok is #1, I have to visit that one guy and that music shop.

Thank you very much for your help, Maxim.

I just checked a few FFXI websites that list magic/song information and as far as I can see there are no songs that a bard can learn at level 2 or level 4. Bards get a new song at almost every level after you break level 10 (except there are a few others levels where you won't get one either) so I guess that's what led the person to believe you can learn songs at level 2 and 4 as well, since the gap must have seemed awkward or something.
