what instruments for what songs?

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what instruments you need for what songs... I've searched and found harp for defense and flute for attack but haven't found much else... any help appreciated!

flute +1 lvl1 (requiem+1)
cornet+1 lvl4 (minuet+2)
piccolo+1 lvl9
merry's horn lvl14 (lullaby+1)
sand'oria cow horn lvl20 (CHR+3 march+1)
travel +1 lvl32 (madorigal +2)

thanks a lot for your post barrett, it has really helped^^. I was wondering if you by chance know how good the merry's horn is. One post said it was one of the best instruments until level 44, but I don't see anything much special on it (besides the lullaby+1) which would make it so good and worth 100k. I am also stuck on deciding between that horn or the +5hp/+5mp -5 vit +8 chr 2hand staff. Again if anyone could give some advice I'd be grateful... not many bards out there to get advice from. :spin:

As a bard, you'll have great responsibility when the monsters link and lullaby is essential in BCNM battle, too. I asked one of my friend and she said she always carries merry's horn. I'm not sure its worth 100k tho, it's only 20k on my server. It's better to get it by yourself. NM stray merry is in konschtat, around F9, and it's not that strong^^ You might wanna get it from stray merry and buy monster sign instead. Good luck^^

Is there a visual difference between individual horns and harps?

yes there is a difference, also some horns/flutes look different from other horns/flutes. I haven't seen a difference between harps yet but I have only had 1 or 2 harps total while I have had several horns and flutes. There is only 1 horn melody and 1 flute melody though, in addition to the melody when you don't have an instrument (use voice to sing).

wow so mary's horn is really that good? i saw it on auciton at windurst and got it for like 5k, was only one there , even checked other towns auctions didnt have it. glad i bought it before some other bard did
