Saying that every race can equally perform every job is obviously incorrect. For example, Humes are very defficient in the Hair stat when compared to Elvaans. Observe Diagram 6A:

While the well-groomed Elvaan with good hair can easily perform jobs such as Model or Actor with maximum performance for good rewards, his Hume counterpart is clearly only able to perform well at jobs such as Gas Station Clerk or Backwater Town Blockbuster Employee. I'd hardly say that these differences are negatable at endgame levels, regardless of skill or gear.

Well if nothing else, we agree on who we'd send in to get eaten first by a dragon.

Sorry for any confusion, but I would like to point out again that for the most part I agree with what all of you are saying. The chances of running into someone of equal gear and skill is incredibly low, especially playing the same job. My only point is that in such a scenario race would play a measurable difference. However again, player skill and gear play a FAR, FAR larger role of course. I am not claiming that since I am Elvaan I am > all other melee DD or a far better WHM or what have you. I am merely stating again that there are differences, and once you know what they are and by how much, usually you can plan the gear you focus on obtaining with more intelligence. Play what you like and how you like, as what race you prefer, but don't ignore the differences. If I am an Elvaan WHM for instance I would probably sub SMN for auto-refresh at higher levels and more MP base, also I would focus on Convert or + MP gear as well.
