Re: Job with the worst macros

Not joking, we shouldn't have gotten married in the first place. We have at least six different occasions where we attempted to work things out but we just can't live together, and for the sake of the kids (and my sanity) we are splitting. It's really a huge relief.

Hindsight really is 20/20, kids, don't get married until you're absolutely sure.

26 now, 23 when I got married. So plenty old enough to know better, but apparently not old enough to follow through.

Sometimes doubts are "cold feet" or "jitters" sometimes they're a pretty damn good hunch that you're about to fuck up bigtime. Learn to tell the difference.

it's really tough getting married young. especially when you have kids in the picture. you're right, you are old enough to know better but following through is definitely hard.

I know a few couples that got married young too. They're still together, but I think the sole reason behind it is that they 1) dont have kids, 2) are able to be active and occupied without their better half. If they didnt have these 2 things in place, I'm sure things wouldnt be how they are now.

I hope all works out for you and your two boys.

I've said is before, and I'll say it again: divorce sucks. People need to learn that marriage is not a thing to be taken lightly: I can't even begin to stress that enough! What really sucks is that they always do learn, but not until they've already divorced.

. . . There isn't going to be any custody drama against your two boys, is there (because nothing of it can come for them)?

I understand your stance Ymage but I'll be honest, living with my husband is what sucks. I won't go into it all, but he's not the kind of man you want to live with for the rest of your life if you value your sanity in any sort of way.

There won't be any issues for the kids, we do hope to settle it amicably - and we should be able to. As long as Eddy is 1000+ miles away from here, I get along with him just fine. I just don't want him near me, the thought of him touching me makes me want to throw up.

You've been fed some bad propaganda. I've not know even one person who have gotten married thinking it's something to be taken lightly.

It's not that people who marry these days don't think marriage is important--it's that the society and those around them no longer force them to stay married when things go sour.

In the past marriage was important to other people instead of just to the people who were married, because they were used to seal alliances and deals. When divorce was tantamount to a declaration of war between villages or nations, there would be a lot of pressure to force couples to stay together.

That's just not true so much these days, unless you look to places where huge dowry or the likes are still the norm. "Your son dares to divorce my daughter!? Return my herd of sheep--plus interest!"

                * * *

Divorce doesn't mean people get married thinking it's unimportant--it's "Damn, this hurts, and will be messy--but it's better we split up than make each other unhappy for the rest of our lives."

While the nature of marriage has changed, I'm pretty sure at least 99% of people who get married aren't hoping for a divorce down the line while walking the aisle. ^_^

Not taking sides in anything, but Itaz, the very idea going into it that if it doesn't work out you can always get a divorce is pretty much the definition of 'taking it lightly.' And yes, this is the prevailing attitude.

The actual act of it does not necessarily indicate the initial feelings in the matter.

Incidentally, what does this have to do with macros? Someone have a marriage counseling set of macros?

Hmm, I think if people really spent the time thinking seriously about their relationship, and addressing the issues instead of saying "oh well, maybe he/she will change" then not many people would get married.

And a lot of unwanted kids would never be born.

Hmm. Maybe just a different PoV a difference in degree of "lightly"? I see cheating on spouse or otherwise not fulfilling the obligations of marriage as "taking it lightly". Or, to eschew marriage altogether, like many do in Western Europe, and form informal, hybrid families of adults and children.

To divorce, you actually have to care enough to evaluate the situation and move to action. Heck, you'd have to care enough to get married in the first place.
