  • Choosing my job...other factors in place

Right now, I'm trying to decide on what job to choose. I seem to get bored quick with the jobs I've done before (SAM, MNK, RNG really). So I see myself trying a lot of jobs, leveling them up for a bit then switching to a different job. Well, now I've decided to level a job up so I can progress in Chains of Promathia. Also I need a job that won't dig too deep into my pocketbook. So here are my factors:

    1) A job that can be used throughout Chains of Promathia missions.
    2) A cheaper job.
    3) A job where I can begin to make money with it (IE good farming jobs, or other ways like teleports)
    4) One that isn't monotonous in its use (MNK is an example of something monotonous).

Here are the jobs I DON'T want:
RNG COR NIN SAM MNK DRK (All too expensive for me)

    Some jobs I'm eyeing on:
    RDM WHM BLU PUP BRD

      Summoner ^^

Honestly Summoner is pretty cheap untill lvl 50+ when you have to buy Austre and staves. Most of your spells are free if you have helpers for the lvl 60 fights and Fenir(worry about Diablos later!). Also after the mega buy in at 50 you can be pretty lazy about equips except for the Evoker's ring quest and the rare/ex Yinyang robe.

WHM and RDM can risk becoming monotonous, very quickly. RDM doesn't really shine until 50 caps in CoPs. WHM is good overall, but not the savviest money-maker in the game

BRD is very busy and varied, but contrary to what you may think, they're a hindrence in CoP until 60 cap and uncapped. The BCNMs can run long and require jobs that can deal burst damage, which isn't really an asset BRD has. Buffs are nice, but they don't really help much when you need big damage fast in level-capped areas.

PUP, I'm bypassing here, I can't comment on thier performance in CoPs, but they do incur a handsome expense you seem to wish to avoid.

I'd say that it seems like BLU is what you're looking for. They're excellent for CoP missions, they can solo, they have varied roles and styles of play in EXP. And since you solo to learn many of your spells, you'll pick up lots of beastmen seals you can save to BCNM for gil, not to mention all the loot you'll get to sell from your soloing ventures.

SMN is not that cheap. 1st of all, all of the spirits, are pretty pricey. As well as all of the spells and time leveling up your sub job.

But other than that, SMN is the best job in the game ^^
