Re: Galkas can do mage jobs you know!!!! <<<rant>>>

As long as you have enough MP to cover what you need to accomplish and your playstayle, Galka Mage is alot of fun to play. It's fun because its challenging and requires you to stay on your toes. You got to have the right gear and make better decisions on when to use your MP and for what reason. It sometimes calls for a little more micromanagement than you're typical taru mage. [Tarus get to be lazy if they want, not us necessarily lol.]

Anyone who berates you, disdains your playstyle, or calls you names simply based off of prejudicial circumstances..... well, heh, basically they're quite hypocritical. Point being, to make ignorant, illogical assumptions based solely off of skin-deep appearances and call someone a fool for doing something that pertains to the assumptions, when obviously its possible to perform that which you speak of with a little gumption and intuition, is just hypocritical. Its like an idiot calling a smart person dumb for being smart. o.O lol like ok?

With this idea in mind, you can look opposition and adversity straight into the eyes and proclaim, "O death, where is thy sting now?" lol (sorry for the philosophical kick) Ppl (children) are going to point fingers at others and laugh. It's their station in life. Its when you get knocked down a peg or two and brought to your knees (humbled) that usually people grow up. Usually...

Anyway, its good to vent sometimes. But don't worry bro. You definitely are not a wtfomgzr0znoobkthxbai.

The interesting thing about playing "abnormal" race/job combinations is you stand out more. If your a Galka Mage and go do an awsome job, you will be noticed more then that other outstanding tarutaru. On the other hand, if you suck, people will think your worse then that equally bad tarutaru. Same with Tarutarus playing Paladin and Elvann playing Dark Knights.

Just don't let it get to you. There are jerks in every game. However, if you get several /tells from diffrent people giving critisism you might want to look at changing some things. That usually means your doing something wrong.

"lolorz galka mhagez are n00bs" is not helpful critisism, so just brush it off. "You really shouldn't sub Warrior when playing Summoner"(Not saying you do) should be considered though. Otherwise you just develop into the dictionary definition of
            n00b, and we don't want that =D

Exactly. You're likely to receive all sorts of comments as you level, and it's a good idea to know which ones you should pay attention to, and which ones you shouldn't.

If you're really good at your job, people are going to remember you. If you're not, then they are going to judge you more harshly. It's unfortunate, but true.

But yeah, you just have to ignore people like that. I've gotten some similar veined comments for being an Elvaan summoner. "You should've rolled Taru, you'd have more MP." You learn after a while, people like this don't shut up. Best thing to do is show them up. As others have said, the best WHM I ever knew (in party and as a person) was a Galka.

I agree with the general point about unusual job/race combos standing out, but... Elvaan DRK? Common as dirt. Tarutaru DRK stand out much more.

Elvaan are pretty common in general, but I think an elvaan BLM or SMN would be unusual enough to be noticed.

Humes, on the other hand, can never stand out from the crowd; they ARE the crowd. Too bad for them.

P.S. I honestly can't advise anyone to take up tanking as a mithra or taru though. Not because they're less effective, but because there is a lot of prejudice. Poorly equipped galka, elvaan and humes will get picked first. People who don't know much about tanking place a very inflated value on maximum HP (it's not really that useful in most situations) and even though mithra have the same HP as humes, we're still not taken seriously as tanks. People get used to galka mages or taru DDs after a bit, but the nontraditional race tank can never escape prejudice.

Elvaan male blm are 10 a penny, Elvaan females tend to be rdm or bust. Rare to see a smn or a blm Elvaan female.

Was funny though, I sometimes go dynamis as blm - our ls is about speeding and killing as much in dynamis as possible, so we end up with a lot of blm. We were clearing the way to the rdm NM in Dyna-Windy, and both the Elvaan female blm suddenly took EES. Sacrifices helped, whm AF dropped soon after...

                              So I got strike one.

And strike two. Elvaan female who doesn't play Red Mage (not my thing) but Summoner instead. I might try Black Mage someday, but more likely than not, I'll do it on my Taru alt.

Come to think of it, I really haven't seen many fellow Female Elvaan summoners. Humes and Tarus, even a few Galkas. Not often an Elvaan. Though most 'women' in game aren't women anyway. I am, but I never assume any of the others are.

I've gotten noticed a few times, as I said, but its been rare overall. Most people quickly realize I truly don't give a damn about 'tarus have moar mp!!11one'. I was aware of this when I started the game. I was aware that I wanted to be a career summoner from day one. And I picked Elvaan anyway. That boggles some people's minds, but I've never really had MP problems like they must expect I do. Since Summoner doesn't really have a stat that it pulls heavily off of, I just use alot of MP+ accessories, - Perp Cost (staves, Austere), and the like.

Yeah I get the "why the hell do you want to play an Elvaan mage comment" too much. I manage my mp just fine! I'm probably going to do smn next, glad I am not playing a male character (hi there, I look like I have constapation when casting).

Elvaan females are generally rare tbh, and most are played by women (though a friend of mine who plays an Elvaan female is male himself).
