I think Tarutaru MNK's, SAM's and THF's are awesome...it's just cool and not something I see all to often, so I give them props when I party with them and they're doing just as good as, or better than me. :D
And I've thought about this before, creating a new character. I'd be a Tarutaru THF for sure. :3
I've seen some taru paladins that are far better at their jobs than say an Elvaan or Galka. Back before I was leveling PLD, I always enjoyed a party with a taru pld.
And I guess if I had a taru character, I'd probably level blm/whm, because I like blm.
PLD75 DRK60 lots of other levels.

Question - why has the starting poster made a poll on tarus in particular? As cute as I think they are, for that reason, I unfortunately cannot mark my result in the poll, as my char is a mithra. (and THF is currently my main, with BST as sub, though I'm thinking of changing around a bit soon. Not sure which though)
I think the reason for the TaruTaru specific poll is because they are known for being best for mage jobs but there are those people who will go outside the "norm" and try other stuff and the person was trying to get a feel for how many folks are willing to try a melee job for a race that is known better for its magical abilities.
The probability of someone watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your action.
I'm a cookie cutter Tarutaru mage. BLM is my highest job, but I don't know if I want to consider it my 'main.' I love the job and find it really fun, but I'm so sick of lfp on BLM for hours and hours and hours. ;.; Actually, I think it's my lvl range (I'm 48) and not the BLM job that's the problem, but oh well. It made me want to try new jobs for a while.
I have RDM and WHM leveled as well. I really want to try SAM next. ^^

Tarutaru Thief here. This race actually seems well suited to this job, though not as much as Mithra. This is the job I started with and raised subless to 18. THF/WAR to 30, then THF/RNG and THF/NIN depending on the situation.
Thief was actually originally intended as a subjob to my character's Dark Knight, but at this point I'm already certain I'm going to take Thief to 60. Don't know for sure which of the jobs will be first to 75, seeing as I have a static trio on DRK and pickup parties on THF.
When I first started out, I didn't have a single clue which jobs were best suited to which race, so I guess you could say that I went into it blindly.
I'd already played another game originally where a couple of the races for both games were a little similar (anyone heard of Neverwinter Nights? sorry to wander off-topic a bit) - elves, and humans. I'd always played the elven type in the other game I played, so I guess when I saw the race types for FFXl, I had 2 favourites - mithra and taru-taru, as I wanted to play a race which was completely different to what I'd already played before.
It took me ages to decide between them too, but in the end, I concluded that I was to play a mithra because I liked the whole cat feeling with the long tail and whiskers e.t.c.
Then I liked the idea of having spells to play around with, and I'd heard that some of the spells from WHM, and RDM were similar, so I went for WHM, then a bit later on BLM.
Much later after that, I'd heard that THF was better suited to the mithra race, though I'm not really sure why. I only chose it because I liked the idea of the job trait, "Treasure Hunter" which helped to collect drops from mobs. (and now I like the job abilities, "steal" and "sneak attack" and can't wait for "Flee" at level 25)
So I guess I don't really know why each job is more suited to a particular race.
Could anyone tell me what the reasons are please?
