Pros and Cons of Races

Ok, well I would like to know what are the pros and cons of the "races" I dont know what race I want to be yet...either a Mithra,Taru,or Elvaan. (mostly Mithra and Taru) I want to be a BLM/RDM (later on of course) and or a WHM/SMN this really isnt a important factor. Just want to know what race is best for what and what they are also bad at. thanks!!

Aiyaa...the pros and cons are almost negligible and you should pick due to your own tastes, but I might as well inform you anyway.

Hume - Generally average, nothing too bad, nothing too great
Elvaan - Nice HP, STR and MND, bad MP, DEX and INT
Tarutaru - Nice MP and INT, bad HP and STR
Mithra - Nice DEX and AGI, otherwise same as hume(for the most part)
Galka - Nice HP, STR and VIT, Really bad MP and bad INT

If that's not exact, sorry But pretty much, just pick whichever race you like better, and whichever you can stand to look at for days on end. :D

As you reach the later levels and have access to more gear with different mods on 'em, race becomes less and less of an issue.

I picked Hume for the simle fact that I level a LOT of jobs. I've taken 8 jobs 40+ so far, and just have a hard time sticking to one job exclusively. I've found Humes to be adaptable to any situation with no big drawbacks. They're the classic "Jack of all trades, master of none." Although gear makes up a LOT for the "master of none" part.

hmmm ok I get it I think...still not sure...though LOL...sorry I am bad I am just a little picky on what I want. I dont really like looking at game characters for a long period of time anyway I just have to because the people who made the game made it that way or whatever. Ok well thanks....all try to dicide...

Most races can play every jobs, but with varying strategies. When you reach the high levels, the difference is a bit less important.

Taru's have a huge MP pool, but they lack anything physical (HP, STR, VIT). That makes them prime mages of course, but that doesn't mean they can't play other jobs. Inherently they don't have stats for melees, but equipment can help in that aspect.

Paladin Tarus for example will compensate their lack of defense ane HP by a bigger MP pool, meaning that they can cure themselves more often. Since they have so much MP it doesn't hurt them too badly to use items that trade MP for HP.

Humes are the good-for-all race. They can do everything, just nothing stellar nor nothing excessively bad inherently. The stats they have higher than other jobs thought is CHR, making them good at Beastmaster and Bard.

Mithras are exactly like Humes for about every stats, except they trade a point or two of Str and Vit against Dex and Agi. That makes them good choices for Ranger, Ninja and Thief.

Elvaans are inherently the race with the most STR, second HP and second Vit. They also have the highest base MND. Favored job choices will be anything that can melee usually because of this. Warrior, Dark Knights, Monks... Their MP is next to last thought.

Galkas boast the highest HP and VIT in the game, second in STR. Because of this they evidently will favor physical jobs, particularly Warrior and Paladin because of their HP and VIT. They have the lowest MP of all, its almost sad to see how little they have. But they can trade HP for MP easily, since they have so much of it.

I am quite scared of how much HP Galka have when my 75PLD Hume had less HP than a lv75 Galka BARD O_o

Anyone else ever thought it strange that Galka have less STR than Elvaan? I've always wondered why that is. You'd think a shaved gorilla would have more STR than a prissy, tea-drinking Elvaan...

I agree it looks like Galka can knock a house down with one hit, and it looks like a Elvaan cant even really move a bolder...at all...o_O

wooah haha. As i do agree its weird galka do not max higher (i think the difference is one point?) I don't think a "prissy tea-drinking" is a good description of elvaans

another point, anyone ever notice how on the begining movie, the elvaan uses a bow with good skill, yet we cannot hit the broad side of a barn? You'd think the radar we should get with our ears we'd be able to hit something

Elvaan aren't bad RNG. Unless we got sucked into a black hole, and it's 2004 again. If so, I have some lottery numbers to play.
