  • Order of operations for %-based ATK increases

The topic pretty much says it all. For the following %-based multipliers:

    - food
    - Berserk
    - Warcry?
    - Last Resort
    - Boost
    - Chaos Roll

...what is the order of operations? Do any of them take any of the others into account?

I do know from testing that Chaos Roll is not affected by Berserk.

    Centurio X-I 1/1 - Celphie 1/1 - Deadly Dodo 0/2 - Doppleganger Dio 0/1 - Jaggedy-eared Jack 0/7 - Joo Duzu the Whirlwind 1/1 - Leaping Lizzy 2/16 - Mimas 0/1 - Odqan 1/9 - Orcish Wallbreacher 0/1 - Ose 1/3 - Sagittarius X-XIII 1/1 - Serpopard Ishtar 3/6 - Silk Caterpillar 1/2 - Tom Tit Tat 0/2 - Trickster Kinetix 0/2 - Valkurm Emperor 6/10 - Wyvernpoacher Drachlox 1/1

I know that Food + (Berserk or Defender) and Food + Cocoon stack by multiplication. However, Berserk, Defender, and Cocoon seem to stack with each other by addition: Defender + Berserk cancel each other out in full, Berserk + Cocoon results in a 25% Defense bonus, and Defender + Cocoon results in a 75% bonus. It seems to me most things stack by multiplication by default, but a few are made to interact with each other by addition/subtraction, and the sum/difference is treated as its own effect.

Ever late to the party, my experience has been that straight numbers are added first, then they are figured into the % increase of food and berserk/defender. I know Dan's had some odd results with Chaos Roll indicative of something... amiss. I do know that Warcry is a static number, and I'm 99% positive that it's static increase will rise proportionately with use of berserk or by eating a sis kebabi. I guess that doesn't really help you much, but I think it's still safe to assume that %s are figured last. I'm also quite sure that multiple % increases are added. i.e. 100 attack + 25% food +25% berserk = 150 attack (+50%), not 156 attack (normal value +25% = new value +25% = new value). = WRONG

I had done a small test some months ago just to be sure. These were my results (note that for the ones with Fish Miths you need to add 1 more base Def due to VIT). To the left is the actual number I got on-screen. To the right is the calculation that should yield that result.

        Normal Defense: 257

        Defender only: 321 = 257 * 1.25
        Fish Mithkabob only: 322 = 258 * 1.25
        Defender + Fish Mithkabob: 402 = 258 * 1.25 * 1.25
        Protect + Defender: 371 = 297 * 1.25
        Protect + Fish Mithkabob: 372 = (258 + 40) * 1.25
        Protect + Defender + Fish Mithkabob: 462 = 298 * 1.25 * 1.25 (Fish Mith caps at 90)

Similar to what I've found just base on how the food, ability, etc.. gives you the ATK or DEF bonus.

Like Protect or Minuet those are a straight number add not a percent add. Straight number adds you add directly to ATK or DEF but percent adds you multiply them in.

Part of why I've loved RNG/WAR so much I've partied with WAR doing War Cry with my Berserk and %Rng. Att. foods my ATK have reached numbers of 600 and 700 along with a BRD and my Sidewinder and Barrages are pretty wicked. Definite closer attacks to kill a mob off when it's got like 2k-3k HP left.

Because of how that works the best food item for damage but so damn expensive is stuff like Red Curry, Dragon Soup, and Dragon Steak. Really high cap and all have like a +22% ATK boost, blows everything else you could get out of the water. Even if you don't hit the cap that +22% is going give you far more of a bonus then Courel Subs and their +18% which is possible to hit their caps pretty easily.

Cheezy Test Result (I am nerdier than 96% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!)
