And? You aren't even over lv40 in PUP yet, you really can't talk about how good it is from your experiences taking a job up through kazham.
If that were the case, I could say DRG is a great tank, WHM is a good DD, BLM is crummy, and NIN can't tank worth crap.
Ok? Someone is taking this too seriously. Chill out, what did say to set you off? I'm saying things speaking from experience of playing it and watching others play it and from what other people tell me.
frankly I was really looking forward playing a PUP... but quickly PUP became the joke job..but well I just say to wait until the new version update to see if the PUP get fixed.
While PUPs were a last minute adition once they realized they wouldn't be able to work with Necromancers? That would explain a lot.
On top of that the playerbase couldn't say what it was about necromancer that they wanted in the first place so how was SE to know what to do with it, as far as living up to peoples expectations. Most of the time it ended up being a SMN that didn't heal., or a BST that called only one thing. But it was going to be AWESOME! Just like Diablo.
Anyway, invite a PUP for the same reason you invite any other DD, you need to fill a DD spot and they're there. There's no real reason to favor one DD over another except for skillchains and so few take that into account when putting together a party.
Thankfully you'll rarely be faced with the decision of PUP vs Any other job for that last DD slot in your party. Unless there is some sort of PUP renniassance after the next update that is.
I'm saying if you aren't even lv40 in a job, you can't really speak of how well it will perform throughout the game.
Well I didn't speak of how well it performs throughout the game. I said they can actually do things and they aren't worthless as many people think. Is that saying that they are the best throughout the whole game? Nah. I personally think it does well from what I observed at the point I'm at with the job, and if anyone else feels differently, then they feel differently. I'm just saying they shouldn't just be shunned completley.
I'm saying give the PUPs a chance because so many people think so horribly of them, yet they don't get them past level 5. Maybe everyone's right, and the PUP DOES need a lot of tweaking, but it wouldn't hurt to try it out, ya know?
Thats very true, it is good to give them a chance, but Until SE fixes pup up a bit more, I see no real reason to invite them over others. (and I love being pup in the first place too <.<
I may only have pup at 15, but even then, they arent very good.
Yay, Ty for this Eohmer~
Silentsteel - Taru of Awesomeness on Valefor
80 Whm, 86 Drg, 40 Sam, 37 Blm, 31 Smn, & lower as it goes down... I have way too much play time for no levels, lol.
*sigh* forget it, I give up. The PUP does need a lot of work, although it is not even as bad as some people make it sound. I guess I'm just talking from my vision of what I was hoping the job would be, so it's not making me think logically. Although I also believe the PUP needs some work, I don't believe that it will be as bad as some make it sound. I'll just wait until the PUP is complete and when I get on a higher level before I should go on saying things.
There was a person took Pup to lv75 and tested out a few tests on Pup. Here is what I remember from her experience:
#1 H2H skill cap is too low, even with H2H merit you are lacking in 20~50 skill level compare to other jobs (roughly 50atk and 40acc). Lv225 (C) vs lv 272 (A+) is a BIG difference in attack and accuracy (not count the lack of +5Dmg bonus from H2H skill level)
#2 Pup lacks any good WS to even the odds. They pretty much can not join a level 3 Skill Chain. They can not do and WSNM because their highest weapon skill level is 225. Pretty much from lv60~75 a Pup will leech exp instead since they can't do enough damage or join a Skill Chain or even become a decent healer.
#3 With top-of-the-line equipments, superior merit pionts and all the money in the world you can get a Pup to come close to that of an average DD. Still the lack of powerful WS pretty much break all your hope for DD (even Rdm has better WS).
#4 Soloing with Pup is not as easy as Bst. Comparable to a Bst using jug pet but take a very long time to kill anything worth while. Without powerful damage, taking a 3000~4000HP monster would take a few minutes. Once the Puppet dies, your Pup is pretty much a juicy steak infront of a hungry Bulldog.
A fun job to play alone when you have nothing else to do. Not a job to do anything else.
People rush too fast to get to level 75 with the new jobs and then they try to give info on it... Somehow I kinda find this ineffective because when they come out with the AF and different changes in the jobs when the update is released, they have no experience for the mid-levels.
I don't understand why people would rush to get to 75 with the new jobs, is it a race or something? Especially with jobs that are not even complete yet, it destroys the whole point. There will be changes to all 3 of the jobs, especially PUP, so I don't really care to listen to the people who says it sucks and it will be "mediocre at best if they do ...". Sure it needs some changes, but it's certainly NOT as bad as some people make it out to be. I'm trying to be optimistic about it, but so many people are driving the job into the ground like no tommorow
Double Post Edited:
I guess what I mean to say by posting this thread is don't give up hope on this job completely because it will be changed, and it will better. I believe that they will have a stronger role in parties, have more attachments, and basically just be fixed up all- around. Give it a chance, before you totally just throw it out like it's nothing.

Well, then the question becomes: "How long do I wait to level that job". SE will constantly be changing the way the jobs work. Take smn for example. SE will be changing the way smn works, after years of being available as a job. All the 75 smns will have missed out on the experience of leveling smn to 75 with the new implements. I was leveling smn recently, heard about the changes, and stopped leveling. I plan to take it up again after the patch. Then SE mentions there will be more avatars...should I wait til those new avatars are available to level smn again?
Regarding the people that rush a new job to 75, that's done for bragging rights.
