Re: Which job should i be o.o

You do know that over a period of time, you can take all the jobs to max... The question that really comes to mind is are you patient enough to do it. If you really can't choose, then do a coin toss tournament and bracket off the jobs and see what comes out on top. odds are if you want a *everything character* an mmo isn't for you because most of the classes are based on having a specific weakness and advantage to make them require groups to accomplish milestone tasks and quests.

I guess what I'm getting at is you shouldn't be deciding what to get to 75, you should be deciding whether or not this game is still keeping your interest, because if your in a slump like this, and having others decide whats best for you, your probably starting to lose interest, and maybe you should take a break and re-evaluate your goals. Like say 2 weeks to a month. Shoot I had to take a large portion of time a away from this game so i could get my head back on straight myself (about 4 months).

The game is always going to be there, atleast as long as there is a demand to play it, so don't be in a rush. Just go with the flow and take your time. Other people might get ahead of you. But hey, atleast your paying your bills on time, you've got a steady job, your not missing class, and your experiencing the real world.

I don't know if I want to be pure support, BRD/WHM or a killer. RNG/THF I don't know, but I' better decide because that level will be coming up quick.

Welll the first 10 levels of any job are a joke and can be done within hours and they give ya a feel for the job. Test em all out you can usually recycle the same gear in that level so why not try em all out.

The first 10 lvls of all melee are the same. you whack away and all thats different is your job in the status menu and the weapon you hold. mages, its a bit different but more or less nuke and whack away. Imo, you cant fully enjoy or get to know a job until 60+, 50s minimum.

Let's quote the OP again so we can stay focused in helping him.

Well, in any mmo i play my biggest problem is picking a class to take to the max level. As of playing ffxi i found out i like to do everytihng >> DD, tank, and the occasional magic casting. i have tried mnk, war, pld, and nin so far and i cant decide what >< This is what causes me to quit many mmo's and if i cant pick one im worried it will happen again on ffxi.
so suggesting him to play every job is probably his worst nightmare. he cant decide on what to do since playing ffxi so far, he likes to DD, tank and magic casting.

so to fill that role, your best bet would be nin. you can do all 3 of those. its not easy on the gil, but you can do all 3 of those. the first 2, you can do very well too.

if nin isnt what you want...

play rdm. its a great pt job, great solo job and just great all around. you literally get a taste for everything. nukes, heals, buffs, debuffs, your own set of spells and the strength to outlast everyone :p

Yeah... Im broken o.o I will take nin up to 30ish if I can and further if i like it. I just want to Have a Job i can enjoy doing everything o.o... If not i may have to level a DD, a Tank, A Support class, and what not... Nin may be what i want so far its fun, just got back from vacation and got my ninjitsu and now starting to level it. I just fear im going to be broke for half my ffxi life. Well thansk guys, i may try rdm sometime as you all are saying it has many roles. Well i will be posting again if I break, and cant decide what to do. My LS and freinds are annoyed that i cant pick a class to keep leveling and be happyIi just need to do somthing. Well I will try to find out want I want to do. But since i Like to DD/Tank/Support/and the rare soloing im broken. I will try to get ninja to 30ish by then end of this week and see if i enjoy it.

Yeah yeah, I know thats why i normaly have a bunch of charchter not leved very highn since i have a DD/Support/And tank. I was just wondering if there a was a job that in certain situations would do those I different roles. I just do not want to be trying to take every job to 75 as fast as i can and end up getting no ware since i will be switch jobs so much...

I will have to try everything since i like everything. DD/Solo/Tank/Support magic/ and dd magic is fun also.Well, If i dont die in a freak accident of thinking to hard I may come out with a job or idea of what to do.

I may take every job to 37 and get a feel for them... Take about 4ish months of playtime but may help me out.

Try leveling as many jobs as you can in the lower levels. More often than not you'll have a very general grasp by level 20 of what you can expect. Jobs do change some (NIN and Utsu Ni at 37), but the general principles don't change all that much. BST does become rather different at 35 w/ Release. Level as many as you can for a few levels and see what you come up with. RDM's later on have many of those skills, but the DD'ing and tanking really only apply to soloing. However, it is an incredibly busy so you'll never get bored.

Actually some jobs change radically after certain levels.

RDM take a complete about face and turn into nearly pure spellcasters after level 41.

SMN change from support mages to attackers at level 70.

Ninjas change from part-time tanks into full-time tanks at level 37.

Most of the other jobs keep their roles fairly consistent over time other than Blue Mage (Blue Mages do some shifting around at any point after level 16 or so, based on what spells they choose to select).

                      Ok, I'm stupid. I'm sorry.
Funny enough, I've run into just as many RDM's who want to melee post 41 as I did pre-41. Had one RDM at 50 that wanted to melee to keep her sword skill up b/c she wanted to try fighting Maat at lvl 65. And a few others in the mid 40's who liked doing two or three damage at a time.
As for SMN, A. I forgot about that, B. It only affects the last 5 levels and endgame. Yes, endgame is a huge chunk, but there are other jobs that do big damage all throughout their career and if he hates playing SMN early in the career, I wouldn't feel comfortable telling him to do it for 70 levels just to get to endgame with it. (Though I have been seeing more and more SMN's using /BLM and going the attack route through the majority of their career.
As for NIN's, its all tanking, but 37+ you become less dependant on others (aside from trying to get certain DD's to control their hate) and more dependant on your own skills. It definately gets more interesting once you get Ni though. Much more fun imo.
