Yeah, I have to agree with Mhurron. Nothing says "I love me" like a roasted taru on a silver platter with all the trimmings... Especially when you synthed it yourself.

All joking aside though, there is no one "Best" race. They all have their merits and flaws depending on the job choice. And the flaws can be minimalized if you have the gil to spend on the gear. The best race in the game is the one you can spend hours a day staring at without wishing you chose something different.

The way I see it you should pick the race that you like the most about how it looks, you'll be watching your character for a really long time, and I don't think there's anything more annoying than finding out you simply hate they way your character looks 6 months after you start playing.

But I don't think there is a better race, depending on the job you are playing some will have an advantage over others, but most of it can be compensated with gear, so it's really only a matter of personal preference.

Best race doesn't exists in FFXI. I've seen Tarutaru Monks that were better than Galka Monks and Galka Black Mages that were better than Tarutaru, and I know a couple of Mithra that make very good Bards. So any race can play any job in FFXI. Seen Hume BlackMages out-nuke some Tarutaru BlackMages.

Don't get caught in the character race issue. Play the character that you like the most, the one that looks best to you. How well a character does in this game is determined by how well you play.

i'd really recommend you try to find a model viewer, and install ffxi, and play around with the models some before you decide on a character. Find what looks good, and....


you won't be stuck finding out your character looks retarded with the weapons you want to use.

If you want to be ok at everything go hume. Otherwise just make a damn decision and pick the race you like the best. That's all that matters, really.

I agree with all the people who said tarutaru, who are obviously right. The fact that we're also delicious is just further proof that Altana made us to be more pleasing in every possible way. Personally, I feel I am best served alive and uncooked, and nibbled on over a period of many years. :3
