    Re: Monk or DRK wanted?

MNKs at level 75 are more useful than DRKs at level 75, if that makes any difference to you. Better damage, better defense, and their ability to crush skeletons is very useful sometimes (Vrtra).

Wow, why would anyone wait that long? When I want to level my MNK, I turn on seek and immediately start looking for party members. I start building a PT right away. I don't wait to see if anybody is going to invite me first. I have to say that the time from turning on seek to actually pulling the first mob is lower with this approach than on my RDM where I just wait for an invite. Plus you get to handpick the jobs in your party for the most part. Don't want a SMN to main heal? That's just fine - it's your call.

I've gone 5-52 on my MNK in about 3 months, only playing on weekend nights. I have no regrets about wasted nights waiting for an invite, because there have been none.

      Take the initiative, geez.

I can't tell you how peeved this phrase makes me.

I refuse to ask people who don't have a flag up. It is there for a reason. Or at least a search comment for goodness sakes.

How am I going to make a Party with 3WAR, a MNK (me), a THF, and a BLM. Sure we could go out and kill some T's and maybe VT's but the downtime could get out of control and we've got nothing to save our hinds but to pour on the damage.

The reason I say that is because whenever I'm on during the week (the time I prefer to play) those are the kinds of party mixes LFP at level ~59. It seems it has been that way since level 55. I've started a single party around 58, and it was okay, but usually I can't find the people.

My best hope is to log on early and find a starting party, or wait a while and be a replacement. I could start forming one but it seems most people are already either in a party or not wanting to level. Being on the East Coast seems to mean that everyone else in the states doesn't want until a few hours after I'm ready. There are very rarely (on a week night) more than three parties my level range (it seems) leveling in all of Vana'Diel.

Then there is also the fact that I genuinely hate starting my own parties. I'd rather "go with the flow" because I can fit in pretty much anywhere. Thats why I hang out in Al Zhabi now, just waiting for an invite.

I get them a lot more frequently than I did at 55, I'll tell you that.

So there are a good number of reasons where I can sieze all the initiative I want, and come up dry. I guess Carby isn't the most populated server, but I have to play the hand I'm dealt. I will say this though, it doesn't bother me. I go AFK and go play Kingdom Hearts or hang out with my wife... play FFX if I really get bored, or come harass people here.

I kick ass in a PT, when I've got the time, and people notice.

          Re: Monk or DRK wanted?

I have to agree with a lot of AU's statement. I hate starting my own parties. Especially at lvl 51, because:
          A. I have no idea where to go to lvl (Rumble crawlers blow now and the exp guides I've looked at show little to nothing to choose from, beetles in QC which spawn slower than molasses and its an incredibly slow grind, or another one that is on skeletons and I suck at bones parties.)
          B. The new places coming up to level I've never been before and don't have a map of so I don't know where to camp on the map.
Also, I've run into problems with the more desirable jobs (NIN, RDM, BLM, WHM) basically refusing to help start a new party because they'd rather wait for an invite to an already going party. They don't want to wait around forming one when they could just wait 5 minutes and be xp'ing in 10.
I know I should take the time to lead parties and get more experience at it, but right now there's a lot of reasons I don't comfortable doing so and many reasons like those Angryundead gave.

There's your problem. 9 out of 10 times they'll join your party, and because you will destroy everything the puller throws at you, they will be glad they accepted.

A lot of times on RDM when I would want to XP, I had an invite before I even put my flag up. Having observed this behavior, I often didn't put my flag up even when I wanted to XP. Because, hey....if I didn't get any invites I'd get them next time. I wouldn't be surprised if many WHMs, PLDs, NINs, BRDs, etc share that opinion.

You can stick to your principles if you want. It's your call.
