  • Job questions.

So... I have a few ideas to as what I want to do.

    all 75(dream of course)

    Pld/War

    War/?

    Rdm/Nin

    Smn/Rdm

    Blu/(thf/rdm?)

    Sam/Mnk

Which class is most needed towards end game?

Even if it is not one of these, which class set up is used most for the Gods and the Dynamis and all of that stuff. I want to put my time into a good job.
    I'm Currently 5nin,10pld, 30 war, 8 rdm, 8 thf, 12mnk

please all the advice possible would be nice ^^

    Re: Job questions.

WAR is /MNK until later, then they go /NIN usually. You can go WAR/MNK all the way, but most people frown on that. I don't know why, WAR/MNK with a Great Axe is awesome.

You can do RDM/NIN, but keep it for soloing. Most RDMs go /WHM or /BLM for party use.

Not sure how SMN/RDM would work, but most people do /WHM on SMN.

BLU is new. I've seen BLU/WAR, BLU/NIN, BLU/THF, BLU/WHM, BLU/BLM, and even BLU/DRK. Better check BLU job forums for more assistance on this.

SAM/MNK works, but isn't the best. /RNG works well, as SAMs have a nice bow skill. Most people go /THF or /WAR. SAM/WAR is a very effective first voke for SATA.

One of the most used jobs endgame is BLM. The trend these days is that if you have a problem, throw more Black Mages at it. There are others that are used often, but Black Mage is what stands out in my mind. Probably because I am a Black Mage.

If you want to get to endgame fast, RDM and BRD are the fastest routes.

      Re: Job questions.

Each job has their role in end game. Some are more desired than others. From your list,

Pld/War is always needed as tank. There are 3 popular combos for tanking end game bosses.
      - pld/war is a standard one
      - nin/war
      - pld/nin

For War, War/Sam most likely. /sam for the free TP without having to hit the monster.

Rdm/Nin is um soloing end game I guess. There are amazing things you can solo with this. However if you're looking for more group oriented sub jobs, they are /blm, /whm, /brd and /drk.

      Smn/Whm. Don't /rdm please

Blu I have yet to see them in end game actions. So can't really comment on this.

      Sam shoud /Thf or /War I think...

but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

        Re: Job questions.

In end-game HNMLS, BLM, PLD, BRD, RDM and occasionally NIN are greatly desired. Here's what I find odd though - Every HNMLS shouts "Paladin, paladin, we need a paladin to tank xxx HNM" yet those same people will go "Wat? PLD? u n00b, PLD = gimp EXP" in a 60+ EXP party.

Anyway, from easiest to level to hardest:

        BRD
        RDM
        BLM
        NIN
        PLD

Warriors, Samurai, Dragoons, etc. are hard to level up, and are very common so they're not really in demand. Once you hit 72 though, EXP parties will pick you up about the same rate as a BRD for meleeburn.

As for SMN... You'll need to be able to sub WHM and BLM(very, very, VERY situational). RDM will just gimp your MP pool and spells.

Blue Mage... Your best bet will be /Samurai, /Summoner, or /Paladin at 75. Though it is awsome to be dual-wieldign two swords with /NIN, or striking mega-hit with /WAR, I feel that you need one of the three aforementioned to sustain a Blue Mage at endgame. Auto-Refresh II or Meditate will be essential, as BLU is the only job that operates off both MP and TP, which are opposing elements.

        Double Post Edited:
By opposing elements I mean that the standard, quickest way to get MP back is to rest, which erases your TP pool. You can certainly keep yout TP and MP up with spells and items, though it will be difficult and expencive. Meditate will give you insta-TP, and Auto-Refresh II will give you 2 MP every 3 seconds without any maintence.

          Meditate will give you insta-TP
Just want to clarify this with an excerpt from http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Meditate

When activated by a Samurai, user's TP meter will increase by 20% every two seconds for a total of ten seconds, granting the user exactly 100% TP.

When activated by a character with Samurai as a support job, user's TP meter will increase by 12% every two seconds for a total of ten seconds, granting the user 60% TP.
