Does it exist? It just hit me...I've been playing this game for over two years and I haven't seen it XD No...seriously... >.> Who here has actually seen a Transfixion Skillchain, when, where, why, how, and how many times? Now I'm really curious
I've done one. A NIN friend of mine and I were farming Beaudeax for some magic scrolls. I use Black Halo, then he used Blade: Ku. Then in chat filters, all you see is, 'WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Ended up being a transfixion skillchain. 3 years of playing FFXI, and the first time I saw it was a month ago.

Transfixion used to be a popular SC to see in exp parties. that was back when 3-men SC was often used unlike today's 2-men, and also when Distortion was used most of the time.
in order to make 3-men Distortion, the first 2 ppl had to create Transfixion so the last one could use Scission-attribute WS to finish SC w/ Distortion. (note the past tense; it was back when there was no LV3 SC yet. so don't tell me "Gravitation->Fragmentation->Distortion also is a 3-men Distortion" )
Transfixion is created via Comression-attribute WS -> Transfixion-attribute WS, and the example Rodin gave above matches this requirement. Halo's attributes r 1-Fragmentation and 2-Comression, and those of Blade Ku r 1-Gravitation and 2-Transfixion, and because Fragmentation -> Gravitation creats no SC, the secondary attributes r considered.
the reason why Transfixion is rare these days, is there r not many WS' which have Compression attribute and at the same time useful. Penta and Tachi: Kasha r only ones that come to my mind. plus, w/ today's 2-men SC "trend," rather than MNK using One Inch Punch before Enpi->Viper, or whatever SC, they just spam Raging Fists instead of making it 3-men. and after 65, they just go 2-men LV3.
juat as my thoughts, especially for 60-64 range, when there r strong WS' such as Raging Rush, Rampage, and Guillotine, but they don't connect well w/ each other as far as SC goes, it sometimes ends up to be better to go for a "minor" LV1 SC using those strong WS', rather than "forcing" to use LV2, especially if the SC matches mobs' weaknesses. but ppl's unawareness is causing the might-turn-out-to-be-better option to go away.
