  • What sub jobs would be good with the NEW Jobs? (bluemage,Puppetmaster,Corsair)

    what would be the Best Subjobs for the new classes please put what subjub would be best by the
    name of the main Job.

    The Blue Mage =

    Puppetmaster =

    The Corsair =

    Also if your a dragoon i wonder if we can be a Puppetmaster as a sub or main Job?

    if corsaire's main attack is gun, they might benefit a lot from /rng for all the nifty range abilities.

      Blue Mage : /WHM /BLM /RDM
      Corsair : /WAR?
      Puppet Master : Hard to say.

        since I am Elvaan and need the mp boost,

        Prolly whm or blm for BLU, and thf or rng for COR for agi bonus

          I would say sub RDM for BLU. PUP could be WAR or even MNK because of the H2H melee they do. COR could easily be NIN, RNG, or WAR.

            I read on the PoL site that Puppet masters are profficient with Hand to hand attacks, perhaps /MNK will be beneficial for Melee dmg, while for maybe soloing capability WHM or perhaps RDM at later lvls would be beneficial.

            BLU I haven't looked into much but I'm sure one of the Mage subs will cover its needs.

            COR ... Hmm its kind of a support/dd class, maybe WHM sub, THF sub, and WAR sub would be suitable depending on situation.

              Actually, BLU could almost sub anything proficiently with the way it looks like it works.

                I'd say expect a lot of blu/war for metallic body tanking, at least until it's proven that it will probably suck I don't see much for Blu/Whm, since not many mobs have healing abilities (Pollen from Bees?), but /blm and /rdm will probably be big.

                I forsee /mnk being the "only way to go" with puppetmaster till 25+. Without martial arts, hand to hand is awful, and pup doesn't get it till 25 according to the job details site, after that, who knows? /war and /thf may get a good shake.

                    BLUE MAGE:

                    Depends on how long the recast timers on the Blue Magic spells are.

                    /WHM - Healer mode: If the recast timers on the blue magic healing spells are very long (30 seconds or more), then BLU becomes only a support healer without a /WHM or /RDM subjob.

                    /BLM - Nuker mode: If Magic Attack bonus affects Blue Magic magical attack spells, then /BLM might be viable, especially if Conserve MP can also affect it.

                    /RDM - I don't see this being particularly viable unless blue mages get Enhancing and Enfeebling Magic skill. Without those, Phalanx, Stoneskin, Gravity, and Dispel are useless, which leaves only Fast Cast as a perk from /RDM, at which point /WHM trumps it.

                    /WAR - Tank mode: Possible but doubtful. Not even RDMs can tank effectively with only Stoneskin, and I'm sure they can cast it more often than a blue mage can use Metallic Skin or whatever.

                    Melee attack mode: It's possible that this could be useful, but a blue mage is still a mage, and will need to replenish their MP, which usually involves resting (and losing TP). Unless blue mages can learn Battery Charge from magic pots to recover their MP without resting. Nonetheless it's an interesting idea, since a blue mage can theoretically self-skillchain much the same way a Samurai can by using a WS and using their job ability to turn a physical spell into a WS to skillchain into or out of (SMN can also do this with their avatar blood pacts).

                    PUPPETMASTER:

                    Anyone's guess here. Until we see how strong the puppets are in action, there's really no way to tell how or what they'll be used for. Most likely to be /WHM if the puppets are strong, but again that depends on what role the Puppetmaster ends up with in parties (or solo, or as an addition to BST parties, or whatever).

                    CORSAIR:

                    This seems to be a fairly straightforward melee job with some Bard-like random booster abilities. I would imagine that /RNG, /WAR, /SAM, or /THF will probably be appropriate. The only subjob that is definitely ruled out is /BRD (since songs and Roll effects use the same "slots").

                    In all cases, I think it's going to be hard to pinpoint what subjobs will be appropriate until we see the abilities in action.

                      Don't count out def+ and eva+ abilities like Water Wall and Water Shield, as well as hp-drain and self-heal moves like Pollen. Depending on how potent they are this could still be viable without stoneskin. One of the abilites in the list that was harvested from the pre-patch dats made it sound a lot like Phalanx.

                        Puppetmaster: mnk oviously, martial arts will give a huge boost to the H2H speed unless they get it nativly then i will probably have to play around with it to see.

                        Corsair: RNG for rng attack and acc if its largly based on ranged attacks, otherwise /war or the ever popular /nin

                        Blue mage: WHM for -na spells and cure, apperantly BLU uses mp so i think it will work out nice, /rdm would work too but i always prefer /whm over /rdm.

                          pearlsea, they do get Martial Arts (but at 25).

                            Yeah /mnk will do nothing for a puppetmaster from level 25-50. They get Martial Arts I innately at 25, and can't get Martial Arts II from sub until 50. From 1-25 and 50-75, it might be good.

                              I did not see those threads, very nice to know ^^, so mnk to lvl 25, then /war i guess for a while then other combos might work /thf(sata) /sam(tp) /nin(shadows and dual wield(useless with H2H ).
