DD are the hardest job to get invites cuz there are so many types of the DRG,DRK,WAR,SAM,THF,MNK not sure if i missed any lol there are also sooooooo many people playing DD. DD is just like it sounds jobs that deal derect dmg using weapons and weapons skills, in later lvls many of these jobs can do huge dmg. They each also have their own ways of doing dmg, DRG use their cute little bet dragons that do good dmg, SAM gain tp fast and can do many Weapon skills, MNK hit hard and fast, etc.
Mage jobs like WHM,BRD,RDM,SMN, and BLM get more invites then they know what do with i was on my GFs WHM when she was on vaction and and i got upwards of maybe 10 invites in 20min even when i was in a pt. A WHM is almost totally needed till later they can be replaced by RDM/WHM or SMN/WHM. BLM do massive amounts of dmg and can really cut down the time a fight takes, only job i know of that can take its place is maybe RNG or SMN at 70+, BRD, RDM, & SMN all have great buffs and till 41 i think BRD is wanted more then RDM but in later lvl pts you need a RDM or BRD or the pt willl have massive down time, well SMN is mainly used as a WHM till 70 but the avatars have some nice buffs.
And the tanks PLD,NIN, & WAR. 1 of these 3 is totally needed in a pt unless i think in sometype of burn pt but i have no exp in these so i cant say for sure. Each has there own stlye of tanking PLD use shield white magic and massive def to tank, NIN Use a NIN spells that use ninja tools and Utesumie (sp), which is kinda like a shadow clone that the mob has to hack thru, they also seem to do good dmg with duel weilding swords and katana. And the WAR , WAR is both a DD and tank so they use both dmg and JAs to keep hate, tho they have lower DEF then PLD i cant say how much lower seeing as iv never compaired them.
But in the end it should be up to you its better to play the job you want to and not what gets the most invites or is the most needed.
