Re: What job?
when i went at this game a second time with my mule i leveled all the 6 starting jobs at the same time in the same area using the same gear. let me say it worked out very well.
Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Be a ninja, if there's one thing this game needs, it's more ninja's.

As far as what job the OP should be, thats a choice he should make. There are always things you have to consider. What type of gamer are you? Quick and fast? Like to explore and not worry about levels? Slow and steady with the best equips? All this figures into what race/job you should be.
Also what do you like to do in a game? Cast magic? Magic that does damage? Keep people alive with magic? Maybe a combo of both?
Hit stuff with big weapons? Hit stuff fast but for lower dmg? Deal dmg from a distance?
Keep the pt alive by keeping the mob focused on you? Keep the mob on you but laugh as you take little to no dmg?
LOL These are just some things that you have to consider and then choose a job your interested in. But as the all-knowing Neighbortaru said, "no one can "tell" you what job to be. read through the job forums to get a feel for the jobs and see which one you like."Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: What job?
I think another important factor that hasn't been mentioned is your patience. If you are an impatient person I suggest you level a invite-friendly job such as RDM/WHM/NIN/PLD/BRD. If you don't mind LFP for 8 hours at a time you can feel free to lvl some of the harder to get invite jobs. However, even if you have a low-demand job you can save yourself LFP time by building your own pts. Obviously this won't really be an option until you have a little experience in the game but it worked wonders for me on MNK.Sky:O Sea:O Koga: 3/5 Melee: 1/5

Re: What job?
a mage is an excellent first job. you will find it easy to find parties and xp.
ninja is another good job for finding parties, but that one is expensive, and not very good for a first time player.
so, choose white mage, black mage, or red mage. any one of those three makes a very good first time through the game
ionia of Cait Sith! 75 RDM, 75 THF
Plotting World Domination and doing silly emotes on a server probably not near you!

then again if real life interferes with alot of your time. going whm or rdm to 37. then going bst to 75 is a possibility. basically no cost for most lvls. an you can exp whenever you want, an as much as you want.
if i could go back 3 years with what i know now. id have gone whm to 37 then bst to 75. then gone nin to 75. an not wasted alot of my time with DRK or WAR.

Re: What job?
again i play melee and have friends across the server if you go as high invite jobs..
whm/blm/rdm/brd-
basically the only 2 jobs you can really screw up lmao is whm and blm not saying they are easy jobs but, they "need" you. Whm and Blm if you lets tons of members die people will not invite you or if you over nuke they will cast you aside .
on rdm and brd thye need you for refresh i mean it is not the end all skill our you would have only rdm and brd pts /sigh but mages will complain
pld/nin
high invites yes but i know as a dd atleast when i have bad experiances with a tank i will gap my self before i give them a second or third chance. so you must be on your game.
low invite job
dds
good luck if you screw up you will have even more problem then normal getting parties.
they best way to get partys no matter what job you are is make your own parties and level in the area vs the mobs your best suited for.
Double Post Edited:
and for the best info on the dark job hit up the dark forums you have some real great players with good minds there they will give you all the tips you need!

Re: What job?
I would actually disagree with the mage jobs being the best to start with. Mainly, you need money to level RDM/BLM/WHM, you need the best spells soon as possible with any three jobs for the most part (at least in my experience). My first priority would be getting THF to 37 or so. Why? So you can farm places like Rolanberry fields for massive gil (not from mere beastmen, but farming items) so you can buy any equipment/spell you need elsewhere. Do that by leveling War and Mnk to 18 at least, or even 20. Then I would level BLM to 17-or 20-for Warp at least, and perhaps even WHM to 37 for the basic three teleportal spells. Afterwards, you pretty much can make enough gil to go as far as you want with any job.
I would especially start out by leveling Warrior though if I were you, that's pretty much the most basic job you can get.
