Hello i am going to sone buy the vanadiale package for the pc and i have a few quetions...

what race should i chose? i would like to make a galka

Choose your job first and then choose your race.

Galka make good melee and tanks.

I'm assuming you mean your computer is a 2005 model. Since you didn't post your specs its difficult to say if you'll run into any difficulties. But if its a recent purchase then I would assume you should be fine. Just make sure you update your drivers.

If you ask if the game is worth it on a forum dedicated to the game, what do you think your answers are going to be? Of course, we'll say yes it is worth it. But look at it logically. If you found it for $12.95 (retail in my area is $19.99) and you only play it for the 30 day free trail, you just spent $13 to entertain yourself for a month. Go see a movie and buy a soda and a popcorn and you'll spend that much, usually more. So for 30 days of entertainment, yes its worth it.

Start >>> Run >>> type in dxdiag and hit OK >>> tabs at the top, click on Display

Now read all of this. It will tell you Name and Chip Type. It will also tell you Main Driver and Version.

Some people choose the race considering how every jobs can influence those race statistics. I personally suggest you to choose the race and character you most like, and THEN choose a job that you also like.
Starting FFXI because you want the best combo job-race isn't as good as choosing the race and the job you love.
Yes, galkas are good meeles, but if you hate galkas, would be a pain playing with it. I personally chosen an hume/monk, didn't cared if hume are meeles, magicians or tanker, just i like my character and the job he has.

I always suggest to beginning players to choose their job over race for a reason. Let's say a new player likes the race Galka but wants to play as a whm, well we all know that can be hard on a new player. They can't afford the astral rings etc that make a Galka a better whm. They become frustrated, say the game sucks, and eventually quit. It's much better if they choose the job first and then the race. Down the road they can always make a mule that they would like to try a different combo on and who knows their main may become their mule!

Race is always a personal choice, if you like it go with it.

To nikpick though, Galkas aren't the best choice. Most races can do any job down the road, but Galkas are kinda limited. Galkas make bad mages in general.

Tarus is a little of the opposite, but not as bad, as they have some secondary stats that are useful to melees like MP for drk, pld, and agi for rng.

Galka's are super sucky for MP, so much so that mages jobs are a big hurdle.

If you enjoy debuffing monsters and doing massive damage now and then, Black mage is the way to go.
If you enjoy doing damage, you can try Thief, Monk, Dark Knight, Samurai, Dragoon, the race choice doesn't matter with this route, any race can excel in the jobs mentioned.
If you like protecting your party, play Paladin.
If you prefer supporting your party, white mage, red mage or bard is pretty good.
If you would like to be able to solo, love adventuring on your own, then Beastmaster is your job.
Ranger, Summoner, Ninja were left out because those 3 jobs require a high level and/or lots of money to play. Warrior is somehow a mix of tank and damage dealing melee, so it might be confusing for new players on day one; plus most people want warrior to subjob ninja(read around for what subjob does), and anything with ninja = money drain.
But if you are still interested, here are their role in parties when played.

-Summoner, a mix of every mage, usually a backup healer and buffer(they have buffs that other mages don't have).
-Ninja, mainly a tank, however there are people who try them as damage dealer.
-Ranger, the best damage dealer before the patch, now I think they are about the same as any damage dealer. Advantage of the job is widescan, help when pulling or camping certain monsters.
-Warrior, a mix of tank and damage dealer, what role you play depend on party setup.

As for race status, or preference:

Melee: Elvaan = Galka > Hume = Mithra > Tarutaru
Mithra has less VIT and HP as they grow, so eventually their tanking ability become lower than Hume, the balanced race, however Mithra does have the massive DEX and AGI to help them excel in other jobs. Tarutaru has little HP, but the MP pool of Tarutaru can help Paladin a lot if used correctly.

Mage: Tarutaru > Hume = Mithra > Elvaan > Galka
Tarutaru have the mass MP, so they don't have to worry much about their MP, ontop of that, they have highest INT of all classes, so even the more better for Red mage(mixture of black magic(INT) and white magic(MND)) or Black mage. Elvaan does have the highest MND of all, but their MP isn't that ideal as compared with the more balanced Hume or Mithra. Galka's MP is really bad, so if you consider a Galka mage, you will need to spend a lot on MP+ gears(often the most expensive equip on any server...).

in my humble opinion new people shouldnt be worrying about being the best, believe me you will be very disappointed if youre looking to be the best of the best before even knowing the ropes

and i kinda know the robes about the game but i havent started playing just reading up on all i can about it and thank "THE GRAND MOM" i have a
redeon X300

and i am buying the vanadile adition with all expansions so on so i will have much to chose from from the bieginin.......

im gonna have fun : )

and i wanted to knwo if it is realy that hard to make money
