        - HA HA what a lie... It goes against everything SE has ever said before about never excluding people from certain magic spells or jobs. SE would never make a job or summon that could only be obtained or made availible for the XBOX owners. They work towards just the opposite goal, thats why they created Charged items like the Warp Cudgel. So people who have choosed a NO-mag.-type job can still warp if they got the gil for the cudgel.

I'm not saying that there won't be new jobs or summons when the XBOX version is released. Actually I hope there is, but I don't think it will be for XBOX owners only. I think this article is something someone just made up from bits and pieces they've heard from somewhere else.

Well, it doesn't confirm the new jobs and summons, but I found this handy piece of information at GameSpot, about future plans the FFXI has.

Hiromichi Tanaka tells Famitsu that he's in the initial stages of developing an unnamed next-generation project, talks Xbox 360 FFXI details.

In an interview published in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Final Fantasy XI producer Hiromichi Tanaka disclosed that his development team is currently working on a new massively multiplayer role-playing game for next-generation consoles.

Tanaka declined to comment on whether the MMORPG in development will be a successor to FFXI or a new product. He did confirm that the technical demonstration shown for the Xbox 360 during E3 was one of the experiments his development team had created to see what kind of graphics a next-generation console could achieve.

Tanaka also disclosed that the Xbox 360 edition of FFXI will sport graphics of a quality similar to the currently available PC version of FFXI. However, he added that the development team is seeing if the Xbox 360 can display graphics for about twice the distance than the Windows version.

The game's beta test is slated to begin simultaneously with the launch of the Xbox 360 later this year. Similarly to the Windows beta, the Xbox 360's beta test will be conducted on servers separate from the rest of the FFXI world. One of the main objectives for the Xbox 360 version's beta testing is to see if there are any problems with the game's network environment, since this will be the first time Xbox Live will be allowing a connection from an external system.
This is sort of what Magic Box posted, but it does not say about the new jobs and summons. I believe that was just thrown in for fun, but who knows. Maybe the beta servers will be used to test new content beforehand for the Xbox 360 version. Personally, in order for FFXI to grow as a game, it needs whole new content, rather than the ole new items/modified stats deal. It needs to come into the next-generation of consoles with a bang, and in order for them to do that, they'll need something big. Who knows what will happen.

well Magic box just wored it wrong, like they always do, I think they ment.....

"New jobs and Summons will be added in a new expansion, that will be release with the X-box360 version and also will become avalable seperatly for PS2 and PC owners"

but like I said, untill the FFXI website says this...I call BS on it ^.^

Well I guess Kilea-D didn't bother to read everything on the thread first posted on here discussing this. But aside from Magic Box's horrible wording there is the Gamespot section but also another source that Neighbourtaru had presented to us.

              It quotes:

              - the 360 version will have a draw distance roughly 2x of the PC version
              - when you play the HD version, you'll be blown away
              - 360 version beta will start the same time as 360 is released
              - PS3 version may happen if/when Sony brings out HDD
              - new jobs will play completely differently to existing jobs
              - when asked about new summons: "hehe..."
              - end of Promathia is likely to be a new area
The source is from JonnyRam which you can find at: Gaming Age

              EDIT:

As far as the statement says "- new jobs will play completely differently to existing jobs" it leaves me to wonder how differently. From the sound of it an Alchemy/Chemist type and Blue Mage sound very feesible as well as possibly a Dancer.

Other then that I saw someone suggesting it would be Gun Mage, but the physics of that is still to similar to something a Red Mage can do that it wouldn't really be that much different then.

As far as Chemist, Blue Mage, Mime, and Dancer those definatly change the style of play were it justifies the meaning of "will play completely differently". Each of those four definatly played differently on every FF game they've been in. And when I mean differently I mean there was completly no relation to the battle systems already in play, it wasn't purely a mana drain, item drain, or edurance of any sorts.

In Chemist they expended various cobination of items to produce different results, the very idea of how they make still feesible on FFXI is possibly were the different gameplay comes in. Then Blue Mage relied on the monsters to learn spells, this again is a complete change with having the learned monsters spells/abilities being temporary. Mime well that should be a no brainer on it. Finally a Dancer on previous FF part of what defined their difference was their effects only lasted while they were in dance once they stopped the effect ends.

              EDIT AGAIN:

Also before the idea of Gun Mage continues, the only huge defining difference to it that Ranger doesn't already have is the Blue Bullets. In FF's design that can be rendered just by the form of new bullets, which will beef it up that list more then just having the 4 or 5? bullets possible to use. The Gun Mage though was basically FFX-2's version of the Blue Mage also so they conflict in intrest.

lol no one said its only for xbox o.O its just they are coming with its release...we all know 1000000% that the only diffrences between the games on diffrent consoles are the graphics and thats it.

the gameplay will NEVER be diffrent on the diffren consoles

I think your life revolves around bashing Dragoons especially Kailea-D.

I think your a shallow minded twat

I believe also that the interview is most likely false, they may as well tweak the current jobs instead of making new ones.

how is it that an xbox 360 will be able to draw distance 2x that of my pc?

I spend over $1k on individual parts alone (grafix card cost me 200 dollars by itself) to make myself a kick ass gaming machine. (just the box, not counting monitor or sound system)

I seriously doubt the xbox 360 can match my computer's specs. Hell, I run doom 3 on high resolution and still clock in 50+fps.

Just what do they mean by 2x draw distance of a pc? I always thought that the draw distance was a factor of how much bandwidth I'm getting for what to draw and a combination of how much ram and grafix card and processor can handle.

So unless they somehow take like $700 loss and sell the xbox 360 for$300 when the pc has parts that alone that sell for that price.

I simply find this statement to be very "magical" on the part of magic xbox. How can they claim to be able to draw farther than a high end gaming PC for a priced to buy colsole system?

Wonder if S-E will break their concept this time about bringing multi platform together. From the sentence "not found in the PC/PS2 version" it is possible too that they are talking about the next expanstion for all platform which isn't released on anything yet so it's still true about not found on PC/PS2.
