Genbu as well, his high defense seems to almost completely negate melee dmg but leaves ranged relatively unaffected.

I'd have to agree with what most people stated as far as most desirable HNM jobs, however I'd like to qualify that with the statement that that does not mean I personally think that's the way it should be. IMO an HNM should be a end-game LS, which means there is more to it than Kirin and Tiamat. What is ideal on Fafnir may or may not be ideal for the many other activities that are available to you as a L75 player. Narrow focus and recruitment based solely on job leads to high burn out and low comradary within HNM LSs and ultimately leads to the failure of most, particularly amongst NAs as the historically lower claim rate on ground leads to lower payout to work ratio. That being said, it is also true that too little focus on the jobs brought to an LS will ultimately destroy it as well. Having 8 PLDs and 2 mages at an event is usually counterproductive and will lead to feelings of being unwanted or overworked, depending upon which end you fall on.

Also, most of the jobs that are so desirable to HNMing (NIN, RNG, BLM, etc) there are sooooo many of that being one is no longer a free ticket into the HNM LS of your choice. I'd much rather get a nice loldrg in my LS than yet one more pimped out RNG. Felxibility and cohension amongst members are the most important factors in determining the success of a group, because of that I would caution you against joining any LS that invites you purely because of your class.

However, a decent, well-balanced, mid-sized HNM LS will generally have roughly the following:
    PLD: 4 NIN: 4 WAR: 2
    WHM: 6 BLM: 7 RDM: 5 BRD: 4 SMN: 4
    RNG: 6 MNK: 2 DRK: 2 DRG: 1 BST: 1 SAM: 2

Some will have more or less of any given thing, especially with more and more NA players have more than 1 job to 75.

Bottom line is, when the "cool-factor" of HNM wears off, make sure you're happy with the class you played, the friends you made, and the LS you joined--if you're not, no title or phat l3wtz will compensate.

I wont go into what job is most desired.. because it really really varies from LS to LS.

White Mage sound to be your favorite job, take it to 75. Join with that. White Mage is a insanely scalable job (meaning you can have alot and it wont hurt) so that will be on your side.

      My advice is to:

      1. Make friends, be nice to people your PT with you level up you will see the same people on the HNM scene.

      2. Know your job. Gear, well the best you can do.. I'm not saying you will need a vermillions cloak but as White Mage, Raise 3 is a must.

      3. Have correct subjobs available. For White Mage this will be BLM and SMN at 37.

My main job is bard, and I love bard to pieces all my merits are geared towards my bard. When I spend alot of gil on equip its for bard before any other job, etc. You'll noitce at 75, bards aren't that rare anymore. More so we aren't scalable like white mage, besides leveling a job just to get into the HNM LS is a very bad idea. Its very obvious to people ont he HNM scene who really love there job and who doesn't. HNM secne is alot of work, the coolness factor will wear off really fast. Do what you enjoy. ^^y
