Race doesnt matter for brd. Any job can be good at it because the difference in chr between races is pretty small and any difference in chr can easily be made up with the vast amount of cheap chr equipment brds have access to. A lot of brds dont even need half the chr they equip to land songs reliably on normal monsters.

Now if you wanna argue mp with galkas being brds, well a galka can easily get way more mp than a taru in that case with the help of RSE and RSE2.

Galkas make fabulous brds. Its probably the best mage choice for a galka. If a mithra can do it, a galka could probably do it even better.

I Know A Few High lvl galka WHMs on Midgard *Stunc xomes to mind..*...one got me one of my sub pieces...*i think that was him too..* ive pted w/ alot of galka WHM and they usualy seem ALOT less lazy and are more attentive..(idk why..lol) i give them thumbs up for the work...Rock On! Do It! Be a Galka WHM... I Have a Pic of a Galka in SMN AF i took a screenthot of... *always wants to tell them good job when they come by*..

Usually because they have to be, MP management is more important when you don't have much MP to throw around.

Uhh, you cant really "beat the game" cause theres always somehing else to do, and having no sub /is/ stupid. You're giving up useful skills that benefit your whole PT. Different races all give advantages and disadvantages to ANY job, but no sub just makes you weaker than having a sub, no matter what it may be. A whm/mnk isnt really a good subjob combo, however its better than a whm/no sub. More HP and VIT if you have a crappy tank, more mnd which helps with debuffs, and the exact same MP as if you had no sub. However, /blm is more useful than /mnk because of conserve mp+drain+aspir+larger MP pool.

About the subless mage in the 70's.

There is aparently a kind of glitch that has to do with changing your jobs a certain way in Mog House, if you trigger it you basically "shut off" your sub.

I don't know how the glitch works though, but thats why you see someone of extremely high level occasionally without a sub, its just for fun.

On top of what i said earlier, they also have the most HP and can take hits the best. So theyre excellent for BCNM.

When it comes to brding, its mostly dependant on skill of the player. But as for stats and available equipment goes it probably goes something like this...

Elvaan>Galka>Hume>Taru>Mithra

They might be in a different order, but galka and elvaan are in a better place to be good brds compared to any other race. Thats the point.

I think I have at least +60 chr with my equipment with room for improvement.

Jesters Cape +1 -- +10
Shellbuster -- +4
Opo Crown -- +7
Melody Earrings x 2 -- +2
Errant Hpl -- +10
Errant Slops -- +7
Choral Cuffs -- +4
Star Necklace -- +3
Gleemans Belt or Corsette +1 -- +6

And some cheapo moon rings x2 -- +6

That comes to +62 chr i think, and Ive been relatively cheap on chr equipment too, none of that cost me over 180k. I could have thrown in HQ melody earrings, shair seraweels, shair crackows, signa staff, and Angel/Heavens Rings. That would have put me up over +80 chr. An extra 86 chr i think (could be wrong). Add etudes onto that, and i might be able to hit over 100 extra chr. Well over 100 with soul voice.

I'll have to strongly disagree with you here. A character of any race can become an outstanding Bard. There is a plethora of +CHR gear out there to more than make up for what a Galka/Mithra naturally lack. Besides, the only time CHR ever really counts is with HNM fights and the like...other than that, instrument/singing skill > CHR.

The one thing that most people forget is that PTs are mainly interested in a BRD's buffs (which, of course, can never be resisted). Sure, Elegy and Threnody are extremely good songs, but debuffs are not where the majority of a BRD's usefulness lies.

As for the galka mage, if elvaan can be good ranger even though they don't have dex, if elvaan could be thief, even though they don't have dex, if taru can be HP/blink tank, even though they don't have VIT/HP, and AGI not even the top.... then.. galka's are allowed to play whatever they want.

I've already given reasons up the whazoo in other threads about why a character of any race can become an excellent Bard. It gets to the point where I grow weary of sounding like a broken record.

Besides, sometimes I bank on the hope that my character info and signature can speak for themselves...

It must be nice to have all that extra HP and survive a stray Meteor from Behemoth while playing BLM :spin:
