Im getting this game in next week , what character should i make ?
For THF, you'll want as high Dexterity and Agility as you can. If you're a guy, dunno if you want to be a Mithra (best in both) if you're a girl, go Mithra =D
But generally, IMO Galka and Elvaan would be ideal Melees, Taru the ideal mages, Hume can do whatever, and Mithra can be RNG or THF easily, as well as mages.
There is no knowledge without experience.
San dOria Rank4 \\ 30 WAR | 19 MNK | 14 RDM | 8 WHM | 13 BLM | 13 THF | 5 DRK | 10 RNG // Goldsmithing 10 Windurst Rank4 // 46 WHM | 26 BLM | 20 RDM | 18 WAR \\ Alchemy 11 | Fishing 8

will the dragon that summon by the me will take over some

will that happen ?
You can't start as a dragoon, you have to unlock that..
I would recommend you start the game as a warrior. If you plan on being a THF a Mithra is best as a THF, but anybody can be an effective THF. Keep in mind you may change your mind later. I chose hume because (like most games) humans are middle of the road statwise.
The reason I mention warrior is because:
- Warriors are easy to solo until you are high enough to group.
- Warriors get groups easy enough
- WAR is an excellent subjob for other melee jobs, including Dragoon and thief.
Once you get 18 and you can have a subjob, maybe level up monk to level 15 and the level warrior to 30 so you can unlock dragoon (or other subjobs).
Actually I think Elvaans are better THF than Mithra.... THF provides DEX/AGI, which the Elvaans need... and Elvaans provide high STR for THF... as a Mithra THF, you will hit more often, may be 90% of the time, but your damage is lower than the highest STR race Elvaan THF.. I would think...
I shouldn't comment on the race.. since it's kinda off topic..
Starting as THF will be hard... I tried
You might wanna take Roldarin's advice and be a warrior from start, then at 18, when you got your sub, you can play your thief there...
You might wanna plan for your dragoon, if you are gonna play that later... for overall damage dealing, I would say WAR sub is the best... I don't think /THF make too good a sub til the main is 60... just my opinion...
I will give you a general idea of the job system(not 100% accurate):
For tanking: PLD, NIN, WAR
they would be the main choices of tanks, you can be SAM, DRG or whatever as tank too, but these 3 would most likely be chosen as tank before all else.
For damage dealing: RNG > MNK, DRK > SAM, DRG > WAR > NIN
Starting with RNG as strongest, the melee equilvilent of a BLM, and NIN weakest... THF is kind of hard to put in the scale, their normal attack does about the same(if not weaker) as a NIN, but with their Sneak attack + Trick attack, their damage out do a RNG... but comparing the rapidness of the high damage output, I would say RNG > THF...
For healing: Any Mage...
Any mage with CURE will be wanted for healer depending on circumstances, though WHM will be the main choice, if available...
For magical damage dealing: BLM > SMN > RDM > WHM
I would rate BLM the highest, because SMN can't use astral flow that often yet(I heard they can astral flow with SC as MB, but not sure if its in yet, I am no SMN).. RDM has a few attack spells, so I would say RDM pwnz WHM in this field.
For Supporting and meleeing at the same time: BRD > RDM
Although I said meleeing, you won't be meleeing like a normal melee, no one would expect these jobs to deal damage... RDM is often wanted to stay behind in battles, but in some cases, RDM can melee, as long as you know what you are doing...
For soloing: BST > RNG, BLM > NIN
The only job that can solo for the whole 75 lvls is BST, usually with a WHM sub, so you can heal self. RNG and BLM can solo to some extent, you can ranged attack the non-moving worms for lvls, but as you progress in lvl, the worm's magic become stronger, and it would be harder to solo... NIN can solo once you get Utsusemi Ichi/Ni, but the speed will be so slow, no one would consider this as a solo-er....
For cost: Mages, NIN, RNG > all other melee
Generally mages cost more to play than melee, because they need new spells every level or 2, when melee only need to spend on food, and equips. Though, NIN and RNG are excluded, because they both use a lot of money on Ninja tools / ammo, every party.
Few extra points to remember:
-DRG's wyvern doesn't take any of your EXP, but it's your 2hrs ability, so try to keep it alive as long as possible.
-BST's pet will take your exp when you killed the monster, but from what I heard, the pet won't take the exp from the team, if you do party as BST.
-For heavy damage dealers like BLM, RNG, keep in mind, that they are 100% offensive, with no defense... higher attack cause higher hate, so they may be hard to play until you can control your hate...
Just a few things I had to clear up on that list given.
For healing not really any mage will do. Any mage will do for support as long as they are or have RDM or WHM as Main or Sub job. For Main healing at the lower levels a WHM is much more desired but after Lv. 41 a RDM can be as effective or even better.
The big bonus of WHMs is their ability to Raise people more then their ability to Cure.
The rating on Damage Dealers is totally off for the most part the scale is RNG > MNK/WAR > DRK > NIN near the end though that gets a little bit flipped flopped depending on what you fight. At the higher levels most parties may focus on bones in which MNK > WAR/DRK/NIN > RNG becomes the order.
That order is extreemly superficial though because NINs can almost match MNKs and RNGs in damage if they spend tons of money in their Shurikens.
For Tanks PLD, WAR/NIN or WAR/MNK, and NIN/WAR are the three many will choose as a tank. After around lv. 40 it is almost impossible for just any melee to tank (There are certain special setups that some jobs can do giving them a good chance to tank but it ends up severely hurting their DD abilities and their hate control is a little tougher to do).
Money Wise in the game it's easily going to be NIN > RNG > Mage > all others. That order becomes more clear the higher you go up. NIN and RNG easily beast all other jobs money wise because they spend constantly for their power were every other job only has a 1 time payment for theirs.
NIN is the most expensive because they spend for scrolls, as well as the items to use their ninjutsu, along with equipment, and their shurikens for greater damage. They basically have the costs of a RNG and Mage combined.
The SMNs are able to SC their Bloodpacts not the astral flows, the astral flow is their 2hr that lets them do a special bloodpact. They can MB their magic type bloodpacts (So having Ramuh casting some lightning spell).
For soloing BST is always called the best because thats the only job were people have actually gotten a better grasp at determining a monsters strengths and weaknesses and playing on them. RNG can actually solo to lv. 75 as well there is a list that shows every area to go to for monsters to fight all the way to 75. Both BST and RNG though can do quite good when they duo with another of their job or with a WHM.
EDIT:
Oh and Race wise really there bonuses won't make a race extreemly better then another. There will be a somewhat noticable difference between them but that becomes extreemly overshadowed by the correct gear used. I've done many BCNM fights with 4 RNGs are all of different races and all with the same gear on with slight differences and yet still all 4 would hit for almost the same damage in the fight with only a difference of 2-5 damage.
