Sorry, I don't check up very often now that I quit FFXI, but I will change the info as Russta indicates. Sorry for the goof up.

I just skimmed the thread, and it seems nobody has asked this yet...
The numbers are mainly posted only for 100%, 200%, and 300%. Does this imply that a 199% WS is generally no better than a 100% WS?
I understand that posting percentages for all 200 of the TP percentages is not feasible, but if the answer to my above question is "no," does anybody know how the percentages increase from, say, 100 to 200 TP? Linear, logarithmic, etc.?

It definitely varies by weapon skill. For example, a 150% Sickle Moon is definitely better than a 100%. However, if you take a WS like Spiral Hell, there is a HUGE difference between 299% and 300% causing me to believe that spiral hell's is not a curve, but a stairstep. I think in general it's a smooth exponential curve, with the exception of the 'special' ws like spiral hell, steel cyclone, etc.

I think almost all of the "Quested" weaponskills get a big boost at exactly 300% TP, along with a select few other lower skills (Full Swing, Calamity and Judgment are 3 that spring to mind).Genkai 5: Completed @ 66 in 8min17s (http://www.fuzzbox.34sp.com/images/maatfight.jpg)

This is very n00bish of me to ask, but damn it, it's killing me, can anyone explain to me how this works again, I'm trying to figure out the magic dmg WS's and I'm stuck as to how I figure out the MDIF and ELM.

I'm guessing MDIF would be difficult to calculate because we don't know accurate values for mob Mag. Def. Bonus (most people know that weapons and such have 12.5% resistance to ALL magic but I'm not sure if this is classed as an actual M.Def bonus), but ELEM is basically "Is the mob weak against the element I am using?", so Goblins are weak vs. fire, Crabs are weak vs. Ice and Thunder, etc.Genkai 5: Completed @ 66 in 8min17s (http://www.fuzzbox.34sp.com/images/maatfight.jpg)

Something I thought should be posted that I believe hasn't been posted in this thread yet.

Couple of questions
1) With the new level 72 gorgets (link), one can easily assume that the element Gorget makes that element WS more powerful (I.E. Flame Gorget makes Burning Blade more powerful).
Do Physical WSs have elements? And if so, what element are they (Or more specifically, Steel Cyclone)?
2) When getting a Double Attack on WS, is it calculated differently? I always assumed that it would be the same exact formula added togeather, but Double Attack doesn't add much at all.
I do 1.6-1.8k at 300% with Steel Cyclone. With Double Attack, I only did 2k damage. If it was calculated the same way, with 1k being my averaged 300% damage without sneak attack, I should have done 2.6-2.8k damage.
Is the fTP modifier always 1 no matter the WS/TP you have like it is for offhand weapons when dual wielding and WSing? I'm assuming that, but wanted confirmation.Originally posted by Luminaire

In case of WAR75/THF15+ arming Berserker's Axe with 100 STR/VIT (for easier calculation although you seem to have more) when both fSTR and PDIF are capped, the highest damage expected of Steel Cyclone at 300% TP with SA should be:
(95 + int (95 / 9) + 8 + int (50 + 50) * 0.83) * 3.0 * 3.0 = 1,764
When DA kicks in,
First Attack: (95 + int (95 / 9) + 8 + int (50 + 50) * 0.83) * 3.0 * 3.0 = 1,764
Second Attack: (95 + int (95 / 9) + 8 + int (50 + 50) * 0.83) * 2.4 * 1.0 = 470
Total: 1,764 + 470 = 2,234
So, it's not 1,764 + 1,764. fTP for DA (2nd attack) and DW (Offhand) is always 1.00 no matter how much TP we have.
Correct me if I'm wrong (since I won't claim that I know too much about this), but let's assume that you hit for 1.6k without Double Attack and 2.0-2.1k with Double Attack. Wouldn't that simply mean that your regular "hit" was for around 500ish?
Base Damage: (95 + int (95 / 9) + 8) = 113
PDIF: 2.4 (3.0 on critical)
113 * 2.4 = 271 (339 on crits)

Your ATK devided by mob's deffense.
If the mob has 400 DEF and you have 600 ATK, PDIF is 1.5.
PDIF also caps at 2.4, so if the mob has 200 DEF and you have 600 ATK, PDIF is only 2.4 even though 600/200 is 3.Originally posted by Luminaire

How about the relation between your STR vs mobs VIT?? how do you figure that one out?
