Help me out!

All right, I was wondering what race I should be if I want to become the following jobs: Paladin (Main) Samurai and Ranger (When I'm done with PLD)

Now, the two races I'm thinking of are Elvaan or Hume. Post reasons why too, but please don't post "Elvaan, because they have the cool Marche hair" or something like that. Thanks in advance.

It's all about preference for those jobs:

I tend to favor Hume and Elvaan PLDs because Humes have the mana to hold hate/reduce downtime and Elvaans actually deal a *little* damage.

Samurai... I think Mithra are fav sams since they have a slight ACC boost from extra dex. Elvaan probably my least favorite. Galka, hume both are decent/good.

Ranger... Hard to go wrong here. Any job can play ranger well. They are STR and AGI based and there's no job that kicks ass in both.

And of course... the standard disclaimer: If you don't make a taru melee, and don't make a galka caster, equipment will remove most glaring issues from your race choice. Taru and Galka are the most specialized races in the game, but they can still break the mold with patience, money, and skill.

Hey, I have not heard of any good mage galka, but I HAVE heard of manny good(not great) taru meles.

M'kay, it kinda got off subject, but, how would you rate an Elvaan THF on a scale of 1-5? I'm thinking of taking that to 30 and then getting PLD, while lvling WAR, of course.

Um...any Galka mage about 40 is good. -_- I have never seen a Galkan mage that wasn't good.

I'd say go Elvaan. I hate them, but they get the cool poses.

Galka and Elvaan for these three are your best bet. While Mithra have higher dex than the two, Galka and Elvaan both have the highest str in the game. Elvaan are also one of the characters with the highest MND, so going paladin there can help a little. It's really up to you, but if you are asking for non suggestions in being non-gimped, you'd probably want one of these two. The differences in galka vs elvaan arent super great, as I've been able to outdamage galka on many occasions, but if done right a galka can be a good pld/sam/rng. Oh, yeah, glk/elv vit rocks too, so I guess it would probably be a good choice.

Here is a pretty quick and simplistic breakdown on races:

Galka: Highest VIT/HP
Tarutaru: Highest INT/MP
Elvaan: Highest STR/MND/CHR(?)
Mithra: Highest DEX/AGI
Hume: Generally Balanced/ Highest CHR(?)

The CHR is the one I'm not entire sure who had the highest I know it isn't Mithra or Galka they have the lowest. Between Taru, Hume, or Elvaan though I can't recall which was highest.

Basically with that info doing a PLD means a Galka take many more hits then any other race (His attacks and everything else won't compare). An Elvaan will be able to strike ok, probably better then any other race as PLD but they are able to cast heal spells better then anyone just not as often. A Hume since they are generally balance they can do a balanced job in any job. Tarutaru as PLD basically has the Taru's massive MP pools to benefit from, they are the only race I've seen that can do extreemly well as PLD/WHM.

For RNG each races benefits and downfalls all vary. A Galka, Hume, Taru in Accuracy/Damage are going to be fairly the same within a marginal difference. The Elvaan with their high STR can deal more damage, but because of the low DEX/AGI they'll miss more often then any others. The Mithra with their high DEX/AGI are able to hit many shots with few misses, but with the lower STR their damage isn't as massive (When being compaired to Elvaan).

As for SAM you basically get the similar reason of each jobs abilities as you do with RNG. In this case though you have to keep in mind that RNG is raw damage and SAM is mostly Technique Points. A good SAM is a SAM that can generate their TP very fast.

Galka make good rangers, if they pull hate they can take an extra hit or 2. I would suggest Galka, they are built on paper to be the best melee (except for the MP issue as PLD, I think a 20 Taru PLD might have more MP than a 50 Galka...not too sure about that...don't quote, just correct >.>)

Galka charisma is a little lower than Hume/Elvaan/Tarutaru but it shouldn't make too much of a difference. I've had Galka PLD tank in RSE compared armored elvaan and hume, no complains on my part.

The nice thing about Galka, is if you get bored, you can /cheer motion with or without armor behind PCs, NPCs, or monsters whenever you want.
