Can I level the subjob skills?

Hi All.
I recently started the road of the mages. Started out as a RDM (lvl 20 right now) and am working on both WHM and BLM for subjobs.

Simple question:
My "Divine" skill is low. And at the moment I am playing BLM/WHM. If I cast "Banish" as a BLM/WHM, will my divine skill go up? As of now it has not even capped from being /WHM, so it is at less than half its full potential.

So that is my question. And also, does this apply to other skills as well? Can I level my "Guard" skill from my Monk job as a H2H WAR/MNK? etc.

you cannot raise divine as BLM/WHM. if you want to raise it, be rdm or whm or pld main job.

as for guard, only mnk can level it (last i knew anyway)
