My general beef with the Elvaan race

Hume and Elvaan look the coolest in armor.

Taru look good in robes, and Galka look good wearing thicker armors.

Mithra look good wearing nothing at all.

I picked Elvaan, and I sorta wish I picked Hume. I've gone from melee to mage. With my tendency to change jobs alot Hume would have suited me better.
But I can't be stuffed starting all over again.

All the characters are ugly, except females and Mithra. No I'm serious. Male Humes-wave their butts in my face too often, Elvaans-have freekishly long necks and skinny as a twig, Galka-ugliest thing ever seen and Taru-well I'm not even going to comment on this one ^^.

As for their stats, Hume-alright, Elvaan-need higher mp even as a pld, Galka-very limited job options, Taru-2 hits=death at high lvls, Mithra-good in everything.

All the races are very unbalanced. People complain about the lack of mob variety, well the same goes for jobs. I don't see many Galka-whm's and those that do choose it, are bad-mouthed =(. Ironicly there are plenty of Taru-pld's or drk's. Been in parties like that and they just stink in these jobs. People don't mind, they find taru melee's cute which I find very ironic because they are as bad as my Galka example yet people have the oposite feelings about them ^^.

I choose Elvaan because I'm a dude and playing a Mithra would be awkward, especially when a giant Galka comes to me and offers to put his <meat> <sausage> in <mithra> <fun> <hole>.

All in all, game is messed up, we should just make the best of things...or quit lol.

Err.. most of the NA PLD's I play with use a Dark staff (on macro) for healing MP only and a sword and shield for actuall fighting. Yea it cuts a bit of TP but as everyone knows (I think) it's not to efficent to put a PLD in the SC anyhoo. Using a Dark staff helps Elvann PLDs a whole lot, or such has been my expierence.

On the other hand I don't think I've ever seen a NA PLD using an earth staff for normal tanking. If they do, I agree that they need a talking to.

Of all the races I like the way hume looks the most, and we are bad at no job, which is a super plus for me.

But for stats, I wish I had galka stats sometimes. They have the same dex as my hume, higher str, higher vit, and higher hp. My main job is war so I really like these stats (more than elvaan stats).

The only thing bad about them is the MP. I never plan to a play a mage job, but I do plan to play bst with my friend someday, and galka lack mp and chr. :/

So it's a, you can be really good at jobs like war,mnk,drk,drg,rng, and most melee job with galka, but mage is a no no, and you never know if you will play one or not so it's killer for me. I really think galka looks cool in almost all af because you never see them in it. When I saw a galka in rdm af and a galka in whm af standing next to each other I had to take a picture.

But in the end I prefer my hume to every race.

Elvaan are goons, they look good in just about nothing id say, maybe ninjitsu gi, but thats about it, galka look ok in the mnk AF, and hume, they can get away with just about every look except blm AF

False. As a galka I can play any job I choose. It may cost me more money, but I can/will be just as effective as others.

55 bard, 30 whm, 17 blm. When/if I take bard to 75 and I've gotten all of the avatars, I may make a SMN.

Getting cooking upto 30 skill is very easy, which enables you to make pineapple juice. WHM and BLM were both leveled without astral rings and I only really had to juice in A) horrible groups or B) really amazing groups on either char.

I would have to disagree with some of the info in this post. Any race can be what they want, it may take some money and time for them to be as valuable, or some creative thinking. I have partied with a galka WHM before and he was one of the best I have seen. He came prepared with drinks and ready to sit when he needed to. Unlike many Taru with mana to burn, he was very mana efficient while keeping us alive and having some MP left over. I was around lvl 34 and in the jungle and was pleasantly surprised that someone could shut my laughing up at a Galka Caster. I thought the idea ridiculous too, fortunately, I have been schooled by some folks at unconventional class/race combos.

It's not true. And the along with this arguement the person then says that if the galka is smart he can be better than the taru. Uh? Ok. Are you meaning to say all taru suck because they don't know how to control their mp? Oh then you say, "Well he had juices and astrals!!111" umm, these items are not restricted to galka only. Taru can also have these items. Change that person's race who is a galka to taru and he will much more efficient.

But, I also know that if they had chosen tarutaru as their race, or hume or mithra for that matter, that they could greatly improve their performance.

Improved performance only helps so much. This is why you can have galka mage and still make really good exp. However, it REQUIRES that they have better equipment/skills. Ive seen Good galka mages match the performance of taru mages. Yeah taru whm would have more mp, but the Galka didnt run out so who cares?

Yes any race can do what they want. It is true, that is why the game is designed so that a taru can be a warrior or a galka can be a SMN. Doesn't mean they will be efficient at it right off the bat, just that they may have a harder challenge to get where they want with it. I also never said Taru's suck. MAny Taru's can control their mp. My point was that with the large reserve that Taru's have there is more room for error and recovery. Some people are so sensitive.

Euric i agree with you completely. People should just play whatever they choose. I am an Elvaan but I wish i would have been a mithra or a Taru. It's ok though. I have gotten every subjob unlocked and I plan on getting all my jobs to at least 30.
