quick question

is it trueee that elvaan are the best melee race? because im thinking about eventually making a drk and a sam with subs as war and thf. so i hear elvaans are good in these? yes? if it turns out they are not much better in those than a hume is, i will just pick hume

Elvaans have higher str than a hume and a higher vit (i think). They are good melee characters but any race can do any job depending on how much you want to spend on equipment. Elvaans also have a lower mp pool. So if you are totally set on a melee character you can be elvaan, but if you end up later wanting to play a mage job it might make it hard on you. So basicly if you want to be a hume be a hume if you want to be an elvaan be an elvaan it is really your preference since both can excell as melee. I also forgot to mention that elvaan have a lower dex so you'll miss more.....but this is easily fixed with a little acuracy up gear.

Here's the breakdown, buddy, courtesy of StarvingArtist:

Humes
HP : C | MP : B | STR : C | DEX : C | VIT : C | AGI : C | INT : C | MND : B | CHR : A
Notes: Average stats make them neither poor or excelled in any job. Higher natural CHR, MND, and MP lean towards Bards and mages. No difference in male or female Humes.

Elvaan
HP : B | MP : C | STR : A | DEX : D | VIT : B | AGI : E | INT : E | MND : A | CHR : A
Notes: High HP, STR, and VIT makes for a good attacker, but with low DEX. High CHR and MND are good for Bards, Beast Tamers, and White Mage, but will have low MP.

Basically, if you want your character to excel in mostly melee roles, Elvaan is a pretty good choice. That said, Humes are pretty good at melee roles as well, but won't hit as hard, and will take hits harder. Look at Humes as more of an "average" class that can do anything quite well with good gear, whereas Elvaan or Galkas will excel in hard hitting melee roles.
