"Why don't you have an advanced job?"

Here is a short story that happened to me:

I am a lvl 42 MNK/WAR, I get into a party with a Paladin, Ranger, Red Mage, White Mage, and Dark Knight. Its a great party combination! And we are doing ok in terms of experience. They are not the best players, more like 'C' level players in terms of what they are doing.

And then the Paladin turns to me and says, "Why don't you have an advanced job"?

His point: Of course, the mages were not advanced jobs, but they are mages, so the "rule" does not apply... "Why don't you have an advanced job?"

I simply answered that I do have advanced jobs, but they are all lvl.1 and left it at that...

What is up with "advanced job" fetish?!

These people are idiots. The starter jobs are some of the best in the game. The mages and MNK being the main ones. MNKs are imho the best melees in the game. The only problem with them is that they don't skill chain very well at certain levels. However, if I were to go melee it would definentely be as a MNK.

The starter jobs other then Warrior and mabey monk are the most crucial to the game.

Elvann Monk is awsome though saw one spewing out Energy Blasts or whatever those were (I forgot what they are called and I really havent grouped with a monk in ohhh 30 levels) every few minutes for 1k damage to some HNM I was watching a JP HNMLS kill.

RDM, WHM, BLM and THF on the otherhand are critical classes.


But,
Warriors versititly is also incredible, yes they arnt exactly the best at any of there roles but they are pretty high up. Just change the warriors SJ and they can represent another class. Warrior/Sam for Skillchaining, Warrior/Nin for Tanking, Warrior/Thf for Thief Role. Warriors Break attacks are also pretty nice.
