nin is sexy and dangerous.
Pld is safe and reliable.
Nin is the hot chick you met at the club that you are always getting into fights with other guys for. The one your mom cant stand. Dresses slutty and does the nasty things your girlfriend wont do.
Pld is the wifey type that irons your clothes, cleans your room and you mom loves. Never goes out without you and is a virgin

nevar! PLD is the best tanking job. In Midgardsormr Paladin is pricy! . It's not just throwing cures voke and flash, you also got to worry about who to cure (not all the time yourself) how to manage your mp, how to cover and of course ... farm ; ; plus our 2hour pwns ninjas but i still love ninjas :spin:
what if a ninja fights a Mob that does mulitple attacks? .... pwnedBlm.75 - Whm.56 - Mnk.58 - Rdm.48 - Nin.37 - War.37 - Drk.37

Not enough talented shinobis on my server to compensate for the lack of tanks.

Not going to vote. Both are good tanks in the right situation. There are situations where a Ninja is the better tank, but there are also situations when a Paladin is a better tank.
C'mon guys, just get along. We're enjoying the same game.

Either is fine. NIN/WAR is more efficient, but so far it seems that they need a thief in the party. PLD/WAR can hold nearly unshake-able aggro and brings some great abilities to the plate for tanking (Cover, Invincible).
NIN can start Fragmentation chain ending in Sturmwind, which is nice.Nusayb, Galka, Fairy Server- 63WAR,
70NIN, 37THF, 66MNK, 25DRG, 18RNG, 16SAM, etc. WAR AF Complete. NIN AF Complete. MNK AF Complete.

Id say for a nin that wants to tank and enjoy moderate PT's, the cost falls right on top of a RNG. However the better NIN you want to be, the more expensive it will become. The cost of maintaining a nin has a very WIDE base, hell even some of the best ninja feel like cutting back on some of the nicer parts of a nin tank. Just as RNG can go from costly to OMFGIMGONNADIEIMSOPOOR, a nin has the same range, its all up to the player really. As far as PLD, i love havein them around, but as a career ninja I feel i could never play PLD. I just cringe at the thought of getting hit, thus the curse of being a ninja:sweat:Smithing 68

Once a nin figures out how to cast on double hitting mobs without getting disturbed it's no longer a problem, and if they have alot of + evade gear it's not really an issue anyway.
As far as the holding hate thing a thf just makes the nin's (or pld's) job easier thats all, they really aren't needed to hold hate if the nin is doing there job properly.
There are alot of misconceptions about nin floating around the net...once you PT with a good nin tank you'll be spoiled forever =P

Exactly. There's so much I've heard about this job before I played it. Ninja's can't do damage, Ninja's enfeebles never hit, Ninja's duel wield doesn't stack with Double attack (wtf), Ninja's are owned by multi hit enemies, Ninja's can't keep hate on they're own, Ninja's are dead when AOE's come in, blah blah blah. 90% of everything I've heard about this job before taking it up was bogus.
Mitsu's right, I don't know what the big deal is over multi hit enemies. My Evasion is +30-35, plus my Tarutaru natural evasion and I have a 50-60%(Depending on certain factors..) chance an IT monster will outright miss me without taking a shadow. Some of the enemies my party has raped the most were multi hits or double attack user's. They are more riskier than single hit monsters but if you know the right method they're really not that much more riskier.
The reason why so many think Ninja's are riskier to use is because like, 10% of anyone who's ever played this job know that the reason why Ninja's are such magnificent evasion tanks is because of more than just Utsusemi. There's your parrying rank A, your Evasion rank A, your enfeebles to blind, slow, and paralyze to make the enemy hit you even less, and THEN finally shadow images. Spamming Utsusemi and relying on it solely is fine and dandy, but your missing out on some of the Ninja's greatest strenths. This is a fact that many who tried this job and failed, and War/nin supporter's refuse to acknowledge (Although War/Nin has huge perks too, unique to itself)
When coupled with the fact that when you are actually hit, you still dodge with Utsusemi, and anyone who witnesses this can easilly see why Ninja's are good at this.
When keeping hate, there's certain ways to use your Ninjutsu, and get your physical damage in there efficiently. I've tanked dozens of times without a Thief and it worked out fantastically (Not as much holding back either like with Fuidama parties) Ask any Ninja who's passed level 50, its more than possible (Although at this point I won't touch a Ranger without a Thief myself..) There's a way to use it, spamming things like crazy doesn't acomplish anything. We were talking in the Ninja forum, that out of all the jobs in this game Ninja's are like mirror's, they reflect the skill and perserverance of the player behind them more than any other job because of how "immediate" it is rather than "automatic". I'm not saying other jobs arn't as good, its just you can put in 30% effort into a Dark Knight and get back 50 or 60%. With this job if you put in 30%, you get 30%, if you put in 80%, you get 80%. Its just a challenging job to play but its well worth it. I already know that most people are going to vote Paladin though, because its what most here are used to. Few have the patience to play Ninja at its best really. Paladin's arn't horrible though, they do absorb aggro far easier than anything else so parties really are a bit safer with them. Ninja's are more dynamic and precisive, Paladin's are like total shields. Really since tanks are so low in number anyways they're worth is pretty equal overall. To me though personally, maybe I'm biased but Ninja's, REAL Ninja's (no sub par's or gimps allowed) Are rare and elite tanks. Maybe the fact they're more challenging to unlock the potential out of is a way to control them, lest we'd have evasion tanks everywhere, and we wouldn't be special anymore.
Most level Ninja just so they can sub it, the job differ's so much before 37 and after 37 that I don't think anyone can really say they've played the same job if they say they "Know" Ninja's by just leveling it like that. Very few people who want to take this job up survive the 40's. In the end Ninja's are like Summoner's. Both rarely seen classes that are hard to set up, and are tougher to get the best out of, but for those who do its well worth it. I can't imagine playing any other job than Ninja and not be bored out of my mind.
Plus I'm a Ninja too, so obviously I can't betray my order. I vote Ninja.
I've been bogged down by tons of work and the end of my semester lately, but I'll have some time soon and I honestly can't wait to level nin again.
