Race Input

Hello, there. I need some help on deciding which race my new
character will be. I am waiting for FFXI to be released on the PS2, but I'd like to be ready to start once I get it. I'm debating between Hume and Taru-Taru. Right now I'm leaning more toward Hume, but I'm still not sure. I have a few questions perhaps you could help me with

I know that Tarus are the masters of magic, but exactly how bad are they at melee combat?

Do Hume mages look cool?

Would a Taru ever be conidered for grouping if a tank/melee job was equipped?

Are racial differences very noticable at higher levels?

Be whatever you want. And equipment is more important then race at higher levels.

Humes make good mages in fact Humes are good at every job (not the best maybe) but they are good.

Play what you like not what is "best" this game requires alot of time and if you dont like your character it is going to pretty bothersome.

Taru melee are hard to find a group for. Especially tanking (not saying that they can't do it), but it will be harder. And a hume mage will not be picked over a taru. But....if you are a mage and are any race other then galka (sorry galka but...its true unfortuneatly) you wont have trouble grouping.

As a hume you probobly won't be denied an invite...as a taru melee you might.

But play what you want. After all in my opinion the single coolest character is a taru taru monk (because their finishing move on Asuran Fists is a backflip!!!!) plus taru melee look pretty cool, so....I am not going to tell you what to be.

But I can expect you will have a whole lot of people come in here telling you to be Elvaan or Mithra....

Good luck with whatever you decide...and on a side note try searching the forums or at least scrolling down before posting about race. As there are about 25 threads going about this lol.

lol - Thanks for your help . You're probably right about the threads; I'll be more careful next time. I think I've decided on Hume. They seem to be good at everything, though Taru-Tarus do look cool Thanks again!
