The Sub Job Road to Paladin / Warrior

I am fairly new to the game and have decided ultimately I would like to become a PAL/WAR come high levels. I just wanted to run my current phase of leveling thru some of the helpful people here to see if it makes sense. Now I started off as a Elvaan War (good call eh?) and have leveled that up to 19. Then I completed the sub job quest, as of right now I am at lvl 12 THF which I plan to bring up to 15 so I wont have to lvl again until I hit 30 as my war. I was under the impression that I my sub job at this point would not effect my anticipated Paladinism since I could not get the adv jib until level 30. However I have ha d afew ppl reccomend that I also lvl a WHM sub job up to 15 as it will better prepare me to become a pal/war. Is this true? Is this a sound decision to lvl another job up to 15 before I slip back into my war job? If so can anyone explain why? Help is appreciated...

Your plan to get to PLD is good. Good call on lvling that THF sub to 15, you get a good ability for farming, treasure hunter. Yes, then just be WAR/THF til 30, then do the PLD quest. They are saying lvl WHM b/c it will help bring your healing magic skills up. Its hard to keep your healing spells lvled as just PLD/WAR, but if you lvl WHM for a bit, it will be easier for you. I would only lvl WHM to about lvl 10-12. Then when your PLD is lvl 12, you will be grouping in valkurm and will be curing yourself, so you will still get skill gains really easy.

IMO, the only point of subbing WHM to your WAR prior to 30 is just to prep you, as in the human player, not the character, to be a healing tank. You have a chance to play with some very limited white magic besides your usual tanking duties.

If all you wanted to do is to cap your healing skills, there are easier ways. I find it easiest just cast Cure over and over in front of the mog house. Run in for a refil when your MP's are depleted. It's even easier at Kazham nomad mog. Just switch sub and you are refiled again.

There are also people claiming that your healing skill raises the quickest if you are using if offensively, however I doubt this method's efficiency in PLD's case due to the limited MP supply.
