Best Tank poll!

Well, it has been tried and tested, and many combos have been tried. However it seems that the two obvious winners have become Ninja and the infamous Paladin of coarse. So which job makes the better tank?

-Paladin/Warrior- Assuming maxed lv and AF, they have lots of VIT and can cure and taunt to keep hate.

or

-Ninja/Warrior- The insane Ninja/Warrior, complete with max blink pouches, meaning he WON'T be hit by attack or magic, and also has taunt.

:sweat: ninja's blink scroll only last 3-4 hits. recast time is 1 minute maybe (or 30 seconds?) the point is ninja can avoid some hits, but eventually they'll get hit unavoidably (plus the blink ingradients are quite costly)... and ninja got quite low defense.

so, i'll have to say ninja is not a tank no way they will even get close to pls/war.

PLD/WAR I find them the best at tanks. All Ninja's do is there Ninja Blink :sweat: a Paladin can take hit's while the ninja doges them... but i'll take PLD/WAR

I was in a PT on Saturday and the leader was a NIN/WAR. More importantly, the party set up was:

NIN/WAR
THF/NIN
WAR/MNK
WHM/BLM
RDM/WHM
SMN/WHM

And, uh, wow. You'd think the warrior was the main tank, but no, the ninja was the main tank. The WHM asked how long the blink ninjutsu's recast time was, and if I understood right apparently it's only 45 seconds, and he was using it every 45 seconds as well. What made it even two times better was that we had a Summoner using Garuda's Blink and Titan's Stoneskin ability. To be blunt, nobody was getting hit, ever. Every once in a while there would be freak accidents where the monsters linked and people would be getting hit, but other than that nobody was taking damage. A PT with a NIN and a SMN is really, really good if the ninja uses Blink bags all the time.

At the end of each battle the WHM would have only used about 60 MP. I didn't even have to cast Refresh on him because sitting for thirty seconds after battle was more than enough to recover that amount. So yeah, we were chaining totetotes over and over, meaning 170~220 EXP one after another.

Yeah blink ninjas are the best tanks in the game as long as you have something to keep the hate on them. They may get hit once or twice by accident, but compared to the amount of MP they save... :p Unfortuantely, ninja who's don't throw blink pouches like that are about as useful as a ranger without a gun or bow.

Usually, only good players who play NIN throw pouches like that. If a NIN is willing to do that, they'll put that in their search comment that they are a blink shield. If they don't have it in their info, they're worthless :p Also, without a THF to secure hate from the attacker (or attacker with sub THF that doesn't take hate), NIN is worthless. If you have a THF to side trick on him, however, blink ninja is the best way to go

When you have a blink ninja, you usually want to go after slow-yet-hard-hitting monsters with a huge delay. If you go after fast hitting monsters, the recast time will make it unefficient.

I'm gona stick with the classic PLD/WAR just because there are too many factors which play a role in how well NIN/WAR tanks.

Best tank without a doubt is Mithra Nin/War.

Give her a shitload of Evasion boosts, and a shitload of blink bags and you'll be chaining like crazy. I remember my evasion was good enough to dodge 7-8 hits when casting blink 2, crazy.

It's not even hard to tank well with blink, just get ready to recast as soon as it's about to wear off, and always use taunt, having a thief for yokodama helps immensely.

What an expensive way though. Square really should've re-thought Ninja's Ninjutsu system. Way too expensive. I really wonder how much it costs for them to blink tank at level 65+....
