  • Help me out on this job thing

    Okay I think I have the gist of this, but I am curious. So you pick a begining job, you play until your character is lvl 30 then you have the chance to take on advanced jobs. You can take on any job you want, and you can change as much as you want and still retain weapon, combat, and spell abilities. And if you change back to a job you don't start back at lvl 1. Okay, seems to be a cool system in that it seems almost limitless. Most rpg's your character levels so job switching at anything over newbie level is suicide. Now my questions now are based around experience. So I would assume it gets harder to level as you go higher up in a job? I have heard only your main job gets experience, true? Is experience split between party memebers? Thanks so much in advance for not replying sarcastically and providing good info!

      Thanks, but how is the experience split?

        I don't know exact formulas but from what I have seen the Exp. is basically split in half w/ a modifier for level. For Example:

        If I were to fight an even match by myself; I would get 100 EXP.
        If I were to fight and even match w/ 1 person of equal level; we would both get 50 EXP.
        If I were to fight and even match w/ 1 person 1 level lower than me; I would get 60 EXP, they would get 40 EXP.
        I'm sure you can figure out 1 level higher than me.

        When solo the experience you get goes like this:

        Easy 12-25 EXP
        Decent 50-72 EXP
        Even 100 EXP
        Tough 120-??? EXP (Highest I got solo was 140 EXP at level 2)
        Very Tough ???-??? (If you can solo a very tough then you, my friend, are straight pimp)
        Incredibly Tough ???-!!! (See above... Godliness)

        My friend was in a full (6 person) PT where they would get up to 205 EXP killing Beach Pugils. Since they were all around the same level (16-18; 16, 17, 17, 17, 17, 18; I'm guessing the 16 and 18 even each other out) I would say if you could solo an Incredibly Tough you could get around 1300 EXP per kill... but for a level 17, Incredibly Tough covers all enemies level 20+.

        But having left the topic of discussion... There are also times where you can get EXP Chains. I don't know the exact modification they make, but I am told they add to the experience gained.

          Actually, there's an experience bonus granted for grouping, depending on the number of people in the party.

          2 = 1.2 x EXP
          3 = 1.35 x EXP
          4 = 1.6 x EXP
          5 = 1.85 x EXP
          6 = 2.1 x EXP

          So, if you were in a party with one other person, and you killed a monster normally worth 100 experience to you, you would get 60.

          EXP chains occur when you kill two even or better creatures within 2 minutes, and they apply a (cumulative?) 20% experience bonus.

          Here's a page with a more thorough listing of experience factors (although the text is in Japanese, it's fairly easy to understand what the charts represent): http://ff11.s33.xrea.com/exp.html

            Well, that's good to know... though I wish the grouping bonus was more like EQOA.

            1: 1X
            2: 1.8X
            3: 2.6X
            4: 3.4X

            Or something like that. Makes grouping much easier.
