I was just curious about what people use in different situations. I don't really think any combo is wrong unless you are doing a disservice to people you are trying to help so I hope this doesn't lead to:
"Stupid head, why are you using that?"
"I use it cuz I like it, poop face!!"
"Well, you're a stupid head!!"
"Well, you're a poop face!!"
Not trying to go there. I just would like to understand a bit more about what and why certain atmas are used and when they are most useful. Some are fairly obvious. But some are like, "WTF SE?!?!?!" I will list what I remember of mine...

I usually end up tanking or being back-up tank so I like these:
Sanguine Scythe - HP, Crit dmg, enmity+ (amazing for tanking... extra HP w/ all the merit abyssites puts me close and sometimes over 3k).
Razed Ruins - DEX, Crit rate, Crit dmg (DD atma of epic grateness... good for holding hate)
Voracious Violet - STR, Double attk, Regain (Sweet for Evisceration, double attk w/ regain great for TP'n).
Impregable Tower - HP+, Mag. Acc., Mag. Crit. Dmg (only for max HP. Add Sangquine Scythe and full Merit abyssites you gots alot of meat shield).
Cloak and Dagger - Acc. +, Eva +, Death resist (mainly for the evasion bonus, haven't met much I can't hit in Aby yet... maybe Vaudleany).

I'm there for TH7-8 so I want to crit more so that the lil placebo number keeps rising:
Dread (MKD)- Magic Eva, Treasure Hunter +1, Samba duration (I only use this for the TH +1, I guess the magic eva. might MIGHT help sometimes).
Razed Ruins - see above for description (great atma but I want to crit more and more cuz the TH proc goes up only when you crit, rest is icing on the cake).
Voracious Violet - see above description (want to hit more so I have more oppurtunity to crit on mob so the double attack is great).
Gnarled Horn - Counter, Crit rate, AGI (just a crit hit heavy atma).
Apocolypse - Triple Attack, Quick magic, Auto-Reraise (triple attk for more chances to crit, reraise so mages can concentrate on others while we still have TH being put on the mob).
Alpha Omega (clearing Proto-Omega) - Triple attk, Attk +50, HP -25% (this one is taking a chance w/ the -25%, but it's alot of Triple Attk, and Attk).

Rarely ever sees Abyssea anymore but when I do go:
Razed Ruins - DD like this atma... good for hitting things with sharpy pointy.
Voracious Violet - more STR for hitting with sharp and pointy WSs.
Stout Arm - STR, attk, Rang. attk (more STR and attk for doing damage <period>).

Haven't taken BLU to abyssea yet, lol. So mostly the HP atmas and VV for curing the BLU rushing back during the Charged Whisker Burn.
~Random/Situational~
Brother Wolf - Magic attk bonus, Magic def. bonus, Fire resist (honestly I've only ever used this for Orthrus and it's the mob you get it from... great fire resistance).
Earth Wyrm - Earth resist, Dmg taken -10%, Earthday/Earth full benefit bonus (again... I've only ever used this on the mob you get it from, Dragua).
There are probably more that I use I just can't remember them... these are the main ones I use for the jobs I take into Aby so far.
