    Re: Limbus etiquette?

I agree with BBQ on this. Helping improve your BLMs and melees (obis, gorgets) shows how much you're willing to contribute to the group. Better geared BLMs means faster Omega's/Ultima's, better geared melees means faster zone kills as well. It's people only watching out for themselves that lead to the shitty endgame mentality we have now. Once the full level cap has been increased, say bye bye to your standard EG shell, and say hello to low-manning shit :D

Obis/gorgets should not make or break a group.

        Re: Limbus etiquette?

What about people who have other events (in-game or RL) scheduled for after Limbus? The Limbus leader can't just order them to drop all other obligations just to help make some marginal improvements to some non-Limbus gears of the other Limbus members.

          Re: Limbus etiquette?

My Shell does almost all Events as a whole anyway, so it's a moot point for me anywho.
I can see if you laid that requirement out in the beginning, then np.

I think it's distasteful to feel players should be obligated to stay after an event especially when it's not what they signed up for.

Now, if when you are signing up for a Limbus Shell, the leader (which i assume is you the way you're talking) tells you that after the run you are required to hang around for X amount of time to help farm organs, that's a different story. However I feel that's not what has taken place...
I agree with Kitten on this. Getting help from your endgame ls is a royal pain in the ass. People just staying when someone asks happens only when hell freezes over. Getting people to help one another turns into a leader/sac speaking up on behalf of that person. "I'd really appreciate some help after Limbus with farming some organs for <insert ls member here>. We'll limit it to an hour to an hour and a half. Please come out and help even if you can only stay for one or 2 Yorvas please. We need to get this done." You'll get your friends and then the ass kissers that turn up. Occasionally you'll get a random ls member that stays for 15 to 20 mins and then comes up with something important. "OMG my kid just fell down the stairs! I need to take him to the emergency room!" (Funny thing is, the same kid has had several injuries in the past couple months. He's either the klutziest kid EVER or... lol)

How I would handle it was to announce 3-5 days ahead of time that there will be farming after Limbus. If you can't stay, don't come to Limbus.

As far as in game, all the endgame ls's I've ever been in required you to put the ls first. So if after a Limbus run with your ls you wanted to go merit, tough rocks. You put it off and got your ass to sea and farmed. If you didn't like it, tough...find another ls. There were very few exceptions to that. One would be that if you had died a lot recently and needed a buffer for the next days event, then yes it would be said in ls that you were allowed to merit for buffer.

Well the more dedicated endgame ls's do end up getting a lot of stuff done. There really isn't time, except for free days...which sometimes don't end up being free anyways, to do extra stuff unless you are on very early or late at night. They are demanding on your time but the rewards can be very good too. (Of course that depends on how far you have your nose up the leaderships ass. lol) I enjoyed some of my time in endgame but I can't say it was the majority of time.

                  Tue:
                  Limbus (w/ TVK LS)
                  Mission Night (w/ Blue LS)
If Mission Night canceled, I drop in on my Sky LS (QC) to help farm or whatever is planned.

                  Sat:
                  Limbus (w/ TVK LS)
                  Salvage (w/ Blue LS)

I never mentioned meriting; I'm pretty sure there are other people with events after Limbus like myself.

Einherjar is yet another LS for me, and the same for Dynamis. While it's not unreasonable for leaders (or even non-leaders) to ask if people can join organ farming or other extra activities after an event, it'd be pretty unreasonable to expect people to drop existing obligations.

As other people said, if the condition for joining the LS for Limbus is that you'd have to stick around an hour after for whatever the leader wants, that's fine. But, if people joined before that requirement, and have made plans accordingly? The leader would a jerk if withholding drops or membership as the bargaining chips for the extra session s/he springs on the participants.

As for real life friendly ls, ya all of the endgame ls's I joined said they put RL first. Bullshit. If they did that then nothing would get done. Whenever I'd say I had to log because something came up, the next time I logged in I got the cold shoulder and major attitude from people.

But when I talk about endgame ls's from my point of view, they were ls's that didn't allow you to have additional endgame ls pearls. They did all of the endgame events usually too so you didn't need to look outside of the ls to do them. That doesn't mean they didn't let you have a meriting/leveling static with non-ls people though. You just couldn't wear another pearl so that while you were on you'd be available to the ls or aware of ls discussions. And when there was an event, you were there if you were on unless you got a pass from a leader beforehand.

As far as the rule about helping farm or no Limbus, it was posted on the forums 3-5 days beforehand and discussed in ls. The day of it was posted in the lsmes. There was no excuse whatsoever to not show for farming if you wanted to come to Limbus.

So, the lesson to take away is: Don't join endgame LS's--join event shells.

Event LS: "Thanks for coming to the event! Good job, folks! See you next week!"
Endgame LS: "Get you behinds to the event, and stick around for the stuff we tag on for as long as we want. Or else. We own you, remember that!"

Guess I'm doing Sky, Einherjar, Dynamis, ZNM, Nyzul Isle/Assault, and Salvage all without an "endgame LS" like the ones you've described. Why do people even bother with those? lol.

Even if people had made commitments more than a week before? Lame.

Don't need a better ls...haven't been playing for a while now.

And yes, sometimes even if you made a commitment before we planed Limbus, you wouldn't be allowed to go. Some exceptions would be new members to the shell or if you just went and were not allowed drops. It was a basic rule that we would sporadically do farming and there would be a 3-7 day window letting you know about farming. The problem with being a leader is that you can't please everyone all the time........but they all want you to cater to them anyways.

Wow, this thread got pretty de-railed...

My LS did Proto-Omega last night, pretty easy fight, no wipes. I managed to get the 'Omega's Eye' piece b/c nobody wanted it. My THF will appreciate it...

My LS does Limbus thurs/sun, with Sunday being the 'boss' day. Maybe I'll get lucky and get the Nashira Gages for my smn this Sunday, that would be awesome

                              Thanks^^

It's actually very fun, and I think I like it better than Einherjar....until we do Odin, then I'll probably be like Einherjar > * lol

Pretty soon I'll have my Morgana's Choker from Einherjar, then my Nashira Gages from Limbus. I just hope some SMN AF+1 items drop in our next run! So far I've only got BRD stuff, which is still good. My Choral Cuffs +1 will be made soon, w00t!

Yeah Limbus is easily my favorite event. The max time you spend doing any given zone is like 2hours, and that's only if you take every time chest and don't clear early. Most are shorter than that. You can do most zones with a single party. A few can be done with even less, though you may not clear all mobs. The rewards are nice, especially Homam and Nashira.
